For those of you who have been awaiting news of Babel No More: The Search for the World's Most Extraordinary Language Learners, here are a couple items of interest:
The book has a firm publishing date in the US, Canada, and Australia of January 10, 2012, and will be published in Russian and Korean in the near future. Other foreign publishing plans are pending. I assume that it will be available as an e-book in English anywhere in the world as of January, and that you can have it shipped to you by any online bookseller.
The first review of the book by Kirkus Reviews, a book trade publication, was overwhelmingly positive; you can read it here.
Claude Cartaginese of The Polyglot Project has provided a glowing cover quote (or "blurb") for the book, and he mentioned the book in a YouTube video here (at about 6:30).
Also, the cover of the book was just finalized; you can see it here.
If you have a Facebook account, it would be great if you could "like" me here, and if you're on Twitter, you can "follow" me here.
I also realize that I have not sent out the online survey results to those of you who participated. I apologize for the delay. I may or may not get to sending those out, though I will try my hardest to do so. A day job, caring for a child, and finishing the book itself have taken up all my time. However, the drawing of a free copy will take place as I promised once I have copies of the book myself, probably before the December holidays. Stay tuned!

This blog post may be
interesting to some. It is a short mention of the book by someone who has read the
galleys.

People who are following the progress of Babel No More will be interested in the review in the Dec. 31st print edition of The Economist magazine. It is a positive account of the book with a lot of appreciation for the topic -- and for the challenges of writing about it.
You can follow the news at the Facebook page for the book.
Also check out the redesigned www.babelnomore.com, which has a video advertising the book's contents.

The Article in "The Economist" is a very informative article which gives me a kind of summary of the book's findings. I appreciate this a lot as I can't wait to read the book "Babel No More", which I have already ordered.

Pre-ordered on Amazon and can't wait to start reading this book!
I hope a good discussion develops once a lot of us have completed it.
