I know what you mean Gbod. If I'm not in the mood for anki then more than 2 minutes feels like a really long time. I'm thinking that part of it is that you do anki to make your reviews go away. If you're doing anki or anything because you've promised to spend X amount of time doing something then it's kind of different. I'm sure I'll still get some anime in. Shows are 20 minutes long or so when you cut out the intro and ending sequence. This could fail miserably. I wouldn't say I love doing flashcards but if I think it's the fastest way to learn then it's what I want to do. I want to finish off the core 6k finally. 3 hours may be too much but maybe 2 hours isn't. Whatever is the most I can do per day realistically is what I want to do. I think I could do more than I've been doing and then my progress will be faster. At least in terms of finishing 6k. I don't know how the rest of you view the 6k but I kind of feel like I need to get through the 6k or I'm not really very good yet.
I've given up on writing kanji for now. Maybe next year after I finish Core and pass N2 and stuff. It would be something else to do.
And I'm not getting email notifications of replies.. grr.

Well the Anki reviews are going just fine. I did switch it a bit to make it easier - I went back to testing on just the target word instead of a whole sentence. It's faster. A lot of words I recognize and know in less than a second and I'm pressing the next button almost that quickly. Of course some not so much but if I'm on top of my reviews I know most of it. I'm averaging 250-340ish reviews a day with the Core 6k deck right now. During the week it generally took about 50 minutes to do. I did the grammar/RTK deck after that if I had the energy. I added more vocabulary words some too. Sometimes a lot like 150. I don't feel like it's burning me out - just the opposite the fact that I can see progress is very helpful.
I switched the RTK deck back to writing the kanji. I was doing the reviews and it just felt like I wasn't focused enough on the kanji I was studying and so I made the switch. It might be stupid to do that because recognition was going pretty well. Doing it be hand and writing it out does feel very nostalgic however and I like it for now. I can just make it recognition and later if I choose.
Someone uploaded an anime substosrs deck to ankinet although I'm pretty darn sure that's against the copyright thingy. I grabbed it right away. It's been forever since I made one of those decks. they used to take me hours to make because I went through and used rikaisama to look up every word and get the proper reading and definition etc. The author of this deck didn't go so far but they did add some explanations where they felt it would be need or were just in the mood. You can get a ton from the English sub translation if it's accurate and matches up correctly. I think at my current level of Japanese I would really benefit from subs2srs a lot more. But I truly want to get through Core 6k more than anything. It's been on the to do list for years now. Just go memorize 6k words. Really it's not easy. I know people post how they tried super hard for a month and did it in anki and have stats to prove it. But that's like less than 1% of people. Most people have a hard time learning 6k words. In my current attempt.. I have 1793 unseen left in the 6k. 1692 youn/learn and 555 mature. The initial 2k are suspended. I am going to go unsuspend some later but most of those are so basic I don't need them active. I've been adding lots of cards lately I sort of wonder what the limit of young/learn card is before I'll be at my limit.

Oh I signed up for a Japanese lesson on italki with a guy. Yep. My 1st male teacher except for the teacher at the local college. Who really didn't talk very much to students and was notorious for having two personalities - one when class was on and another when class was over. He was Mr. in control, funny, and in charge during class but after class you couldn't seem to have a conversation with him. Just too awkward. So strange.
This teacher doesn't list English anywhere on his profile. Wait, I take that back. I missed it. He is 2/5 on English. He didn't use any English at all on his profile or lesson explanation though it was all Japanese. He said he was targeting students at intermediate/advanced only lessons so if you couldn't read his blurb then well you weren't good enough heh. It wasn't too too hard to read but not really dumbed down either.
Well I look forward to the lesson. He confirmed it. I guess I can talk about Japanese girls or something for a change XD.

As much as I like watching 名探偵コナン (めいたんてコナン), knowing that someone is going to die, and that someone is the killer, well, if I like the characters, I'm like.. darnit.

I've been good about my reviews for anki seeing as how ambitious I am about finally finishing the Core 6K. I
only did partial reviews yesterday though. 615 due for today lol. I've never seen it that high after one day.
After a week or more maybe but that's a first. I was thinking of doing up to 3 hours a day of anki but even
being very ambitious in adding new cards it hasn't been that much. Today maybe it will though. I can do it.

I had my lesson with a Japanese guy from iTalki who's living in China right now. I did the trial. It is different
talking to a guy than a girl/woman teacher. It feels more natural. He didn't talk about cooking or taking care
of kids... It's was nice. He isn't really into anime per se but did read a lot of manga it sounds like a while back
so he is familiar with it and can easily have a conversation about anime/manga. I signed up for another
lesson already. This one costs (slightly) more than the regular. Per the description he'll send me some vocab
regarding a theme or something for me to study ahead of time. No idea really. I'm guessing he's cheaper
than most of the other teachers because living in China is cheaper than Japan. Anyway it seems like a god
deal. it's 8 or 10 dollars per lesson 45/60 minutes.

Oh and I have no problem at all having a conversation with someone in Japanese it seems. Well no problem
understanding although occasionally I struggle to remember the word I want. But he spoke naturally more or
less and it was easy. Certainly he graded his language some but it seemed like he wasn't going slow or
anything. So this was very encouraging. Although I know understanding someone talking to you and
understanding Japanese people talking among themselves are two different things.

Got through my 600+ Core 6k due, watched anime, and did two Japanese Skype lessons tonight. Although I
am skipping the RTK and grammar deck in Anki, not too shabby.
