I'm am a bit behind... *shame*
But I'll cover the lost ground. I'm watching the french in action lately, which I didn't know untill I saw about it on your log, tastyonions! (I hope I'm not confusing logs here). Don't worry if you just don't feel like studying them as actively as you used to. I think that a method is the most important to keep going on. If you think you have to force yourself to study German, why don't you try to stick yourself to a short time goal? For example, just ten minutes per day until you're in mood to increase the time. Doing do, it's more difficult to goof off for many time and it's easier to resume your former habits. 3 persons have voted this message useful | |||

My goal is 30 min. a day, which is ok, but it only covers the pimsleur part, not the reading and writing part. Even so, it's better than nothing!

As with russian, I am starting over with German assimil. It suits me better after all, because I need the writing, not just the audio.

Yes, you need to try different things and find what works for you and is most efficient. There is so much good advice on this forum, but something that works for one person may not work for another. I haven't tried assimil, but lots of people really love it.

Still being behing in my German. I have discovered some old french language manuals online, that have turned my attention to french. As a result I study less russian and even less German. I don't like where this is heading. I need some discipline here! I have serious problems juggling three languages (one of which I already know...), and hopefully by saying it it will go away. :)
Anyway, a writing question. Those manuals are old. They mention the gothic script, which is interesting to me because I really like handwriting. Here is the question. I can see learning to read and write the gothic script is very useful to people who read old German books, but does anyone actually use it today? I can see it's not used in print anymore, but is it used in handwriting at all? Is it something worth learning?
