If you don't get English without subtitles, put subtitles on - but only English ones. No
more Russian subs, you can do without them. What this probably means is that you can't
create a link between the spoken word and the written word and you need to link the two
and see how they match up.
Besides that, it means you need to listen to more Doctor Who. You've put yourself through
hell - do it five times more and you'll find you'll get better. Unlock the puzzle.

This particular thing with DW is hard since I have to watch it online choosing between Eng/NoSub, Eng/RusSub and Rus voiceover (or just between Eng and Rus, as with that episode and actually the rest of a season). But I can at least rewatch first seasons in English - I was brave
enough to watch then in German without any subs, after all.
I actually hate Russian subs. I hear mistakes, I can offer better translations sometimes. However, I don't always have a choice. I watched a Swedish/Danish/Polish movie recently, there were English subs, but not for a huge pile of English there. Needless to say, that was an awful
experience too.

The previous week was all about The Big Bang Theory, this week is all Äkta människor. The best possible way
for me to get a lot of input, I think. It might be useless to some point, but to the end of season two I could
recognize some simple phrases like Tack så mycket. I haven't drilled them, so this is some progress. Maybe
I'll try to rewatch it later with Swedish subs, but right now English or Russian are the sole possibilities.
The language doesn't sound so alien anymore, but since I have no practice in speaking I can't really produce
anything, I don't even know rules of pronunciation good enough.
There are too much ä, å and ö. I almost hate writing because of that, it's a pure torture for me. Hopefully that
feeling will pass.

And life is going to catch me tomorrow. This semester is going to be all hell, no free Saturdays, all work and no play. Therefore my 6WC activity is going to decrease significantly, which is sad. However, I am not going to drop out completely. I even have Anno 1790 to
watch, haha, not to mention that Duolingo grows to become a habit pretty fast.
Expect January recap in Rätsel and AdvEnglish soon, I haven't abandoned anyone :)

This is all exhausting. I do Duolingo and that's it. I rewatch some TED and don't bother logging it.
The more amazing is that I do manage to find pure awesomeness. I browsed through Encyclopaedia Metallum and found a pile of bands to check/find. I listened to a song of one of them, clearly not famous since their status is unknown. The song was good, but the pessimist in
me never shuts up.
Except for moments like this.
Die Welt entschwindet vor meinen Augen,
den letzten Herzschlag überhört,
kein Gefühl außer Liebe.
Ja ich bin nun heimgekehrt.
Meine Art in eurem Herzen,
wiegt sich dort in Sicherheit,
tragt sie in die Welt hinaus,
im Kampf gegen die Vergänglichkeit.
Wiederkehr ein leerer Spiegel --
ihr werdet mich nie wieder sehen.
Dann blicke ich aus euren Augen
und ihr werdet mich verstehen...
(these are from different songs)
Ich liebe Österreich!

University is really tiring, so the best I can do is Duolingo. However, I have temporary access to quite a good
smartphone, good enough to have the opportunity to set it in German, which is precisely what I've done. You
have no idea about how awesome it is.
As for 6WC... eh... understandable.

As I have lost my strike in Duolingo I abandoned all formal studies. I am studying, experimenting, doing
nothing, reading a bit, watching series... Anything but studies.
The ***k.
On the other hand, I am immersed in English more than usual I think so I should shut up and continue watching
Ricky Gervais' stand up and complaining that there are no English subs and I have to use the Russian ones. That
would surely be better for me.

Setting the mood:
"Wo warst du, mein Lieber, hast du mich schon vergessen?"
P.S. In case I'm outta mood for the next 10 days this is my February-March challenge for Team
Rätzel.
