I started the best newcomer poll for 2013.
To make it easier next time, please state here if it's your first TAC - you have all year for that ;)

I signed onto songlines Team Deuxième French. I believe I need to check in here as well. This will be my first TAC, so if I'm going about this wrong, let me know.

My current level is beginner French, perhaps A1. My goal for the year is to be at a conversational level, perhaps B1.

There's a different thread being used now rinv, since this one was abandoned by the person who
started but didn't maintain it. But I'll give your details to Iversen (the moderator who's keeping a current list of
TAC members) with an update of our Team Deuxième members. - Thanks!

Updated to add, for anyone coming upon this thread, the TAC 2014 Umbrella Thread is
here, thanks to Iversen, who's done absolutely
sterling work on it. - Many, many thanks, Iversen!

Just pointing out that this is still the main thread for TAC talk. But to sign up you need to choose a team and ask in the team thread. If you are accepted (the Russian team is closed, and idk if the first French one also is?), you are already part of the team, and you can announce it here (no need to state your level though). The Umbrella thread is a list (of lists), not the new signup thread. Although of course the new member and/or the team leader may need to contact Iversen for getting the new member added to the list(s).

Also, the best newcomer poll closes at 8 PM GMT tomorrow (March 2nd).

I hope one can still join? So just to get it right: This challenge is about doing as much
as you can in your target language? And all one might want to do is studying and
sometimes do some statement posts or whatever? Or is there any extern site for keeping
track of sucsess etc? Or is it just for oneself and signing up just helps, so that other
people can motivate?

Welcome, Komma. Yes. To join a team, contact the team/s for your target language/s to see if they're still
accepting members. You can do this by sending a personal message to the team leader, or posting on the
team thread. My post (upthread by a couple of posts) has a link to the current list of teams.

(If you're interested in French, Team Deuxième - of which I'm the co-ordinator - still has room.)

Team Exploradores (Spanish, Portuguese and a few smaller langs) also has room.

The challenge is about keeping a log all year - some post daily updates, some weekly, some monthly. You're also supposed to read your teammates' logs, and there are native speakers who answer questions. If you don't want to post, you can sign up as an observer. The status can be changed in either direction later.
