You might like this too. I used it for my Japanese homework at the community college a lot. I could use a review /sigh. I hate counters.

@kraemder: Yeah I know, it does get confusing. You'll eventually get them through more
exposure and repetition. But here's my strategy for you, and it's almost effortless.
Just print out the lists, tear up the paper into sizable chunks for easy review, and
tape them anywhere around your house, especially areas you frequent more often, like
your desk, or the refrigerator, or your mirror. That way you can always be sure to see
them, and being unavoidable, will eventually get burned into your memory permanently,
hopefully. You won't have to sit down for SRS or anything, so it's a little easier.
Just make sure they're short lists or separate counter groups so you can easily glide
over them without feeling like studying a lot at one time, and in different places. You
might even put them in association with things they refer to (e.g. counters for sports,
such as number of hits, glued onto a baseball bat or something.) You get my point :)
@Kerrie: Glad you're on board! Looking forward to following your progress this year :)

I just wanted to pop in and say that I signed up to join this team - my log is
here. I
tried to post earlier but the server ate my post.
I've taken Japanese before but it was only for a semester and it was years ago. I have
also dabbled in it off and on since then. I'm using Genki as well as Kanji Look and
Learn as my two textbooks at the moment. I am also using Anki, Memrise, and Skritter
for memorization. Memrise is better for my short term memory and Anki is better for my
medium and long term memory - also managed to start Anki a week after I started
studying Japanese again this time (which was a few weeks ago).
My goal is to, at the least, get through both Genki textbooks. Right now I'm on Chapter
3 (of 12) in Genki 1. Depending on where I'm at in November, I may register to take one
of the JLPT tests as one of the places they are administered is Seattle, WA which is
only about three hours north of where I live.
Either way, the biggest challenge of all is going to be keeping up with my studying
through the next 12 months.
