I, too, was a bit lost. I still am. May I suggest an umbrella thread for the challenges (SC 2012-2013, SC 2014-2015, 6WC...)? I know it seems to be a lot of work, but it could just be a reference to the (many) threads. No need to include the participants. EDIT: It could include one post with the rules of each version. I've been reading intensively for Japanese, since I'm so bad at reading kanji. I actually
switched from Kino no Tabi to a slightly easier book and will go back to Kino no Tabi when I finish this one. The problem is that I don't really have anything that's not either too easy or a little too far outside my comfort zone. I think the new book that I started will be just right soon, though. For French I'm reading extensively and always have. I much prefer this, since reading intensively frustrates me and tires me out quickly. Spanish is a bit of a mix. I can usually guess words I don't know, and I'm reading a parallel text, so I'm just glancing over if I'm unsure about something. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

There's nothing wrong with reading something that's too easy for you, as long as it holds your interest. I tell that to my kids as they read in our own language, and it holds equally true for foreign language learning. Assuming the language is still correct, an easy text is a good way to build reading stamina and to get used to common structures. I consider myself high A2, but I have an A1 reading book which I still find enjoyable after 4 reads, so I plan to revisit it a few times this SC.

It's less about structures and more about knowing all the characters used, so I don't
learn any new ones(I never could learn much more than the basics without exposure through reading). The book I'm reading is just about right to structure-wise, challenging me just a little, and it's actually pretty good as far as characters go. I'm just out of practice, and some of the characters I remember after the first look up. So I think it'll work out. I also think I'll speed up on the bits with dialogue. Dialogue always seems easier. Besides, the easier things I have don't really interest me. I don't know what I was thinking buying Winnie the Pooh, except that it was only 100 yen. I found a bug/issue. Since twitter doesn't allow us to tweet the same thing several times within a short period of time, if you report the same amount of the same thing, it doesn't get tweeted by the bot and as a result also doesn't get added to the tally. This makes sense, as such an item can't be edited. Maybe it would be good to get a warning when this happens though? Or even schedule the tweet for later, but that's probably too much hassle. Another solution could be to include a small encouragement into each (like on the 6wc bot), this way the tweets aren't identical even if the items are.
