IT: Questa è una di quelle sere rare in cui Raiuno non solo sputa spazzatura. É una sera di Super Quark stasera! Lo spettacolo dura più di due ore e non l'ho visto per mesi. In questo momento stanno parlando di carie dentale, e hanno anche parlato di medicina dello sport (qualsiasi cosa con un passaporto sanitario per i ciclisti). Ma lo più impressionante è stato un serie di rapporti sopra diversi fiumi del mondo. C'era per esempio un padre del Tibet che ha accompagnato i suoi due figli alla scuola tra un percorso di 100 km lungo un fiume parzialmente congelato. C'erano antichi ponti costruiti da radici chi portavano attraverso fiumi impetuosi nel nord-est dell'India, dove si può contare con 24 metri di piogga l'anno. E c'era una clip con gente (probabilmente) del Bangladesh, che stavano a guardare le sue terra presso la riva del fiume cadere nel fiume ed spazzarsi via.
SP: Hablando de cascadas de agua: algunos han dicho que yo hablo como una cascada.. ¡Pero ahora que he oído a alguien que realmente habla como una cascada! Se trate de un clip Youtube en un seria española "Mentes Maravillosas" en la cual un chico de 13 años habla y traduce jeroglíficos egipcios al instante . Hay tambien vídeo clips mas recientes con la misma persona (Carlos Blanco) donde se dice que habla diez idiomas y que acaba de licenciarse a la vez de Filosofía, Ciencias Químicas y Teología. This evening was one of those rare occasions where Raiuno suggested that not all Italian TV has to be rotten. I thought that they had stopped showing Superquark, but lo and behold, we got more than two hours of documentaries tonight. The program consists of clips about science and technology, tied together by an elderly gentleman who also interviews a few scholars. This evening he showed something about healthy centenarians, caries, a 'health passport' for cyclists et cetera, but first and foremost the program started with a series of clips about people living under extreme conditions near big rivers. And speaking about water: some persons have suggested that I speak like a waterfall. But if you want to hear a REAL human speaking waterfall then try this clip with a 13 year old Spanish boy who tells about and translate Egyptian hieroglyphs on the fly. Other clips about the same person, Carlos Blanco, show him at the age of some 19 years where he already has collected three academical degrees in philosophy, chemistry and theology. But the clip with that boy translating hieroglyphs like a machingun is the best of the lot. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

When I made the video about the Polyglot Project a few days ago it reminded me of a book I once found on the internet: Earl W. Stewick's "Success with foreign Languages". Before writing his book the author interviewed a lot of language learners, and then he choosed seven succesful learners and wrote a chapter about each one (using some of the others to represent special topics). These successful learners represent very different strategies, and Stewick tries to relate them to theories about language learning, but without the search for strictly symmetrical structures that is characteristic for most theories about learner types. I spend half the day reading and thinking about the book, and then the afternoon went recording a video and editing it (but I only managed to cut it down to 19 minutters or so).
Right now I'm listening to the tale of the Overton bridge near Dumbarton in Scotland. For some reason a number of dogs have jumped out from this bridge and died, and that's sad. ESP: Pasintsemajne mi ricevis la Esperanton Jarlibron 2011 de poŝto, - bela malgranda libro de la sama grandeco kiel poŝtkarto. Mi intencas uzi ĉiu tiun ofte en malgrandaj kvantoj por teniĝi kontakton kun la lingvo ĝis la granda glora kongreso. Hodiaŭ mi studis la antaŭparolon, kiu efektive enhavis kelkajn vortojn kiun mi ne povus trovi en miaj vortaroj. Sed tio estas kredeble la situacio en ĉiuj lingvoj uzintaj laŭ granda mezuro derivojn.
Last week I received a little book the size of a postcard in my snailmailbox: the Yearbook 2011 from the Esperanto world organization. I'm going to use it as a brushing up tool until the great glorious world congress in Copenhagen, reading and copying one short piece every single day. And today it was the foreword, which described the situation surrounding the acquisition of the present headquarters in Rotterdam. One more detail from Tuesday 28: when I waited at the bus stop at my job I was surrounded by a group of a dozen or so foreigners on a group tour. They came from several countries: one Hungarian, several Spanish speaking persons (including one who had flown from Málaga to Denmark, but I thought he sounded more like a Latinamerican person), at least one German and some silent ones. Of course I didn't interfere in their conversations, I just eavesdropped until they left the bus downtown. I never found out what they did at the Northern outskirts of Århus where I work. From there I continued to a big Art Exposition 'Art at the Sea II' which stretched along 3 km or so of the beach Southwards from the town centre. And as if that wasn't enough, I continued 5 km or so through the Marselisborg forest further South until I reached a point where I could take a bus back to the centre, where I bought some food and went home by one more bus. So apart from the time I spent with a greek text about Kythera and my Esperanto jarlibro I haven't had much time to study this evening. Yes we are language nerds (at least some of us). Without people like us the world would sink down into a morass of utter ignorance and moronic superficial babble. And international communication doesn't have to be through English. Catalan is fine. RU: Вчера вечером я смотрел телепрограмму о Тунгусское событие. Эта тема - хорошо известна из этой темы, но на основе текста.Хорошая вещь о трансляции том, что большинство интервью были на русском языке с датскими субтитрами. Ура, Ура - это невероятно редки, что мне повезло быть в состоянии смотреть телевизор с русским переводом! ES: Plie mi faris vortliston kun 100 vortoj en Esperanto de miaj studoj en tiu lingvo de la finaj malmultaj tagoj. Mi kopias kaj studas malgranda trairejo de la jarlibro ĉiutage, sed krom tio mi ankaŭ extense legas tekstojn de la interreto. Tamen estas unu afero kiun mi devas fari plu: aŭskulti iujn parolitan Esperanton (la tondaĵoj apud Youtube ne estas tre interesaj, sed mi havas ligon al Radio Verda) DA: Og herudover brugte jeg tre timer på at afskrive og indscanne postkort fra medlemmerne af min rejseklub til vores hjemmeside. Yesterday evening the most interesting TV program was one about the Tunguska event, and the good thing about it was that most interviews were in Russian (with a few Italians speaking English as the main exception), and there were Danish subtitles. Russian TV with a subtitles is an exceedingly rare event in my life. If it had been more common I would be better at understanding spoken Russian. I have a similar problem with Esperanto. The clips at Youtube in Esperanto are not very useful, but I have a link to Radio Verda. I do however keep to my plan: copy and study one short passage from the Jarlibro intensively every single day (no exceptions!), and besides read some things on the internet. I spent 3 hours scanning and copying postcards from the members of my travel club for our homepage yesterday. So there wasn't much time to sit down and study in my armchair, but I did do a 100 word wordlist in Esperanto with words I have collected the last couple of days. After all I know that I'll need to speak (and understand!) the international green language later this month. I'll also need to speak Italian and German, but that's someting I have done many times before. With Esperanto it will be a debut. And then the spam control of this forum will of course take some time and attention away from more relevant activities. Y cada vez los Españoles se encuentran se dan besitos .. por lo menos los turistas no les necesiten dar besitas, pero para los españoles parece que sea un deporte dar besitos sonorisomos. Yo estoy en este momente escuchando "En Familia" a TVE desde España, y esto es un excelente recurso si se quiere escuchar al español familiar sin tener que participar en el besuqueo general.
ES: Pli frue en la vespero mi aŭskultis Radion Verdan, kiu enhavas preskaŭ du cent podkastoj kun mallongaj mesaĝoj pri diversaj temoj. Ŝajne estas paro en Vankuvero en Kanado (Arono kaj Karlina ) kiu komencis ĉi tiun aferon en 1998, kaj ili parolas malrapide kaj klare. Estas bona kaj fidinda fonto por parolado en Esperanto. I have watched a program with visits in different families in Spanish at TVE and (earlier) several podcasts from Radio Verde, a homepage with almost 200 podcasts about a wide variety of themes in Esperanto.
