Αυτό είναι το τμημα της βιβλιοθήκης μου, το οποίο περιέχει λεξικά και γραμματικές. Οι δύο λεξικά στο πάνω δεξιά της εικόνας από το Μιλάνο είναι ιταλικά-ιταλικά λεξικό και ιταλικά-αγγλικά λεξικό. Γίνεται όλο και δυσκολότερο να βρεθεί χώρος για τα νέα βιβλία εδώ.
The two mysterious dictionaries in the upper right corner on the picture from Milano (on the preceding page) are an Italian-English and a oneway Italian dictionary. Right now I'm reading some Greek pages on the internet, - that's the only reason that I have chosen to write this in Greek. Below my collection of dictionaries and grammars. einfach ausgezeichnet. Kein Buch gibt mehr wie eine personliche Verbindung als ein Woerterbuch. Der Sucher ist mit einem Woerterbuch allein, aber mit einem grossen Quantum von Wissen in seiner Seiten. simply excellent. No book gives more of a personal connection as a dictionary. The searcher is alone with the dictionary, but with a vast amount of knowledge in its pages. 1 person has voted this message useful | ||||||

Dictionarys are great, and i like veyr much maps as well, the atlas, globes etc.. Your bookshelf is wonderful, like a nice library and only for you.

I don't suppose you have a typed up list of your grammars and dictionaries do you, Iversen? I'd love to hear what all you have, and I can't make out many titles from your pictures. (It looks like you have quite a number of Langenscheidt dictionaries, though!)

EN: Iversen, your collection of grammars and dictionaries is well-structured! So your criterium are language families and you put grammars and dictionaries together. My disadvantage is that I live in a small flat, my collection of books is growing steadily - and I have an urgent lack of bookshelves. Three shelves I have reserved for my dictionaries (about 70) up to now there is no special order among them. A small part of a shelf is reserved for my grammars, which I use very seldom. Three shelves are filled with all kind of textbooks of different languages, as I have always been working a lot with language textbooks. One small shelf is filled with Esperanto books. I don't have enough space here to be able to arrange my books according to different languages, which is a pity, because I also like clear structures. The big red dictionaries are the (edit) GYLDENDAL Danish bilingual dictionaries, I suppose. The yellow Langenscheidt, the green Pons dictionaries and the thin and small Kauderwelsch books are of course well-known to me. ¡Caray! Mis diccionarios y libros de gramática solamente ocupan dos estantes de mi estantería. ¿Cuánto tiempo te tardaste en acumular todo eso?

SP: Empecé a estudiar idiomas cuando yo tenia 14-15 años. Y aún tengo unos pocos diccionarios de este periodo. Por el contrario, viene un montón de mis libros de mi tiempo en la Universidad de Aarhus, donde estudié el Francés al Instituto Románico, o del tiempo inmediatamente después de dejar el Instito, pero antes de abandonar las linguas en 1982. El resto los he comprado después de recomenzar mis estudios en 2006. Es decir que tengo una colección con muchos libros viejos y muchos libros nuevos, pero muy poco del tiempo entre 1982 y 2006. Los diccionarios rojos son publicados por Gyldendal, une impresa danese que está totalmente dominante nel mercado danés. Tengo que añadir que no he usado áun todos mis libros, - por ejemplo he comprado libros sobre el albanés durante mi visita en Kosovo, pero aún no han tratado de aprender ese idioma. Y recientemente he comprado gramáticas para el polaco, el checo y el serbio, pero estas lenguas son todavía sólo proyectos futuros para mí. Entre los pocos libros de la época entre 1982 y 2006 me gustaría mencionar mis diccionarios tailandés, georgiano, armenio y azerí, que compré exclusivamente como recuerdos, un metodo para aprender el Coreano en 47 minutos (!) y mi colección de folletos de Kauderwälsch que he comprado porque son divertidos. Como se vé he estruturado mi colección después de criterios linguisticos, aunque he mantenido una serie de pequeños diccionarios juntos (como la serie de micro Langenscheidts). Como curiosidad: mi diccionarios de latín más antiguos que he comprado usados, están impreso en letras góticas. Pero ahora he comprado algunos con letras normales. Latina en el hecho es un idioma problematico si nos fijamos en los diccionarios. Tengo dos diccionarios danés-latín que son casi inútiles, porque estan carentes de expresiónes bastante triviales. Apare que se ha tomado algunos traducciones de textos clasicos y construido los dicionarios sobre ellos. El único metodo sensato es examinar todos los términos usuales de una lengua moderna y, a continuación, hallar traducciones en latín de estos. Afortunadamente he encontrado algunos diccionarios mejores con otros idiomas de base.
I haven't made a list of my books, and it will take a long time to write one. But I could take a series of photos and make them accessible through links, - it would take up too much space to show them directly here, especially if all the pictures are repeated in the replies. I'll think about it. ---------- I still have a few dictionaries from my school years when I started to learn languages (some of the thin red ones from Gyldendal). Then I have a lot from my time at the Institute for Romance languages at the university of Århus (or from the time immediately after my final exam). From 1982 to 2006, where I didn't study languages, I mostly have pure souvenirs like my tiny dictionaries in Thai, Georgian, Armenian and Azeri, one book about learning Korean in 47 minutes - only Hangul - plus books that can be outright funny like those from the German Kauderwälsch series. The rest of my collection - at least half of the books on the picture are bought since 2006, where I resumed my language studies. As a curiosity I would like to add that my oldest German<->Latin dictionaries, which I bought used, are printed with Gothic letters. Even though I can read them I have preferred to buy newer editions. But the Danish->Latin dictionaries are almost worthless, because they clearly are based on a heap of translations of classical works. However any dictionary from one language into another should always be based on the words and expressions of the base language, which then are translated into the target language - otherwise you simply cannot use it to acquire active skills. Fortunately I have since found better Latin dictionaries, such as a fine and cheap English-Latin one which I happened to find in a bookstore in Cebu in the Philippines.
