Ahem, the idea of Team Iberia was also that many non-beginner Spanish learners are interested in Portuguese or the minority languages. It's very different from the Romance teams, as the range is much smaller.

Basically, let's not overestimate the number of Spanish learners. Beginners are already advised to join Team STARt, so I'm pretty sure that Teams Iberia and Spanish intermediate+ would largely consist of the same people. And in this case it's better to go for the more inclusive option, as there will hardly be more than 3 people who are not studying Spanish, but there may well be some members who are put off by the restrictiveness. If a team has many intermediate+ Spanish learners, does it matter what it's called?

Hi, I'm also in, with French and Dutch.

My French is (still) at B1, and I am aiming for C1 within the next 12 months.

My Dutch...is still in dormant mode, and I want to reactivate it in 2014 - My goal is to have a proper conversation with a Flemish person without the offer of my counterpart to switch to German or English :-)

Happy to join team Dutch, following Hekje's kind invitation!

I think that there are a lot of Spanish learners who are NOT interested in Portuguese, too. I'm not interested in being part of a Portuguese team for 2014. So again, I will end up following only half the team. Which kind of defeats the whole idea of a team.

At least in my mind.

It wouldn't be half the team though. There are definitely not enough (serious) Portuguese learners to form a team, and even fewer Portuguese learners who aren't learning Spanish.

I'd also be interested in joining any TAC 2014 team which is focussing on French. Haven't yet decided
on other languages - it depends on my travel plans - but if I do add any others, I'll either just study them as an
an individual, or join the other-language teams separately.
