There are a lot of junk on-line tests out there, but once in awhile I find one that seems
well done. I just found one this morning for French from Azur Linga that I liked. It took me about 15", it has a reading and listening segment, and gave me a result of B-1-1 (B-1 is divided into B-1-1, B-1-2, and B-1-3). That feels about right, and I think I would have scored a bit better if I had taken my time with the test. It would be nice to have a list of quick, good (or even bad) self-assessment tests for the wiki. Anyone else have any they like? 2 persons have voted this message useful | |

For Mandarin, I know of 3 sites that give you a rough estimate of the number of words
and/or characters you know: - zhtoolkit.com - chineselevel.com - clavissinica.com For Spanish, the Instituto Cervantes has a fairly complete (reading, writing, understanding, grammar...) test. AVE Cervantes 2 persons have voted this message useful | |

I never really trust those tests, their results always seem way to optimistic. For example, the French test gave me a B2 level, the Spanish one C1.3-1.4. I wish! :D
Maybe they'd be more accurate if you left questions you weren't completely sure of empty, but even so i don't think 40-50 questions can really evaluate your (passive) command of a language.
