Hi there !
There are two things I don't understand with the cases in Serbian - Croatian.
1) Why do some firstnames remain the same with the vocative form ?
I was talking to a girl named "Julija", and I asked her if I should call her "Julijo" but
she said "no".
But "Branka" => "Branko" and "Milica" => "Milice"
Same thing for men : "Igor" => "Igore" but, Aleksa => Aleksa
2) Why do sometimes the last letter is not removed ?
If I want to say :
I'm talking to Julija => Govorim Juliji
I'm talking with Julija => Govorim s(a) Julijom
But I was watching the anime Naruto, and there is a character named "Sasuke".
And they don't remove the last letter.
For example, "with Sasuke" = "Sa Sasukeom", but I would have said "sa Sasukom".
I see Sasuke => Sasukea (and I would have said Sasuka)
Is it because it's a foreign name ?
Thanks a lot for your help.

For those interested, I've found out the answer for my first question. It seems that we
only change when the name has two syllables.
Maja => Majo
Ana => Ano
Iva => Ivo
Danijela => Danijela
Marija => Marija
Unless it ends by -ica
Milica => Milice
At least, that's the explanation I've found.
As for my second question, I still don't know. My only guess is that it's a foreign name.
If someone could just helped me with these examples :
I saw Enrique => Vidio sam Enriquea ?
But what if the name ends by an -a already ?
I saw Andrea Bocelli => " Vidio sam Andreaa (Andrea ?) Bocellia"?
I saw Barack Obama => Vidio sam Baracka Obamaa ? or Obama ?
Also, it seems we don't decline a female foreign name ?
I saw Jenifer Aniston => vidio sam Jenifer Aniston.
Thanks for any help.
