I just got into Montréal a couple of days ago, and although I read French fairly well, my spoken French is atrocious. However I'm trying to use it as much as I can and so I have a question for you.
I was in a restaurant yesterday and wanted to order some poutine (a québécois dish of french fries, gravy and cheese curds). They had two sizes: grande & régulière. I wanted to ask about the size of the régulière, so in English I'd say, "How big is the regular?" But I'm wondering how a native French speaker would ask the same question. I'm not looking for a literal translation, just what would they say to convey that idea? Thanks 4 persons have voted this message useful | |

A very informal, but simple and common way to ask could be "c'est grand comment, la régulière?". Or else you could say "c'est quelle grandeur, la régulière?", or "je peux voir les grandeurs, s'il-vous-plaît?"

Is there a way to say it using the word 'combien'? Just curious.

The construction "how + adjective" is a tricky combination to translate into French. "Combien grand" does not work well, it sounds wrong to my ears. The French use other construction to express this. Read for example this thread.
