City Hall in Korean makes me lol the most.

Do you find TTMIK better than KoreanClass101? I still recommend it to people who want to learn Korean at fansites I go to (knowing full well that they'll give up in a week, so no point in them spending money) but I haven't really checked it out in a while.

I've never actually tried KC101 (though I know some of the TTMIK teachers were originally from that site), so I can't really comment on it. I've found a good bit to like about TTMIK, though. Plus the TTMIK 이야기 stories are on LingQ as well (or at least the first several are), so I can use the LingQ interface to easily weed out which words I already know and those I don't (in preparation for SRSing the new words).

How's LingQ? I know very little about it. I didn't know they had Korean on the site.

It works ok. In my personal opinion, LingQ is far better suited for Western languages than for agglutinating languages like Korean, but it still has its uses. The most useful part is that once it learns which vocabulary you already know, you can easily pick which new texts to read based on how many new words a text contains. Unfortunately, since I don't use it very heavily, it isn't aware of many of the words I know yet, though, which limits that usefulness.

Once I start playing with Spanish again, though, I plan to use LingQ *much* more heavily as it is very well suited for a language like that.

They have both Japanese and Korean there, so it's definitely worth a shot for you to try it out. :)

I won't be using LingQ. It's basically the same stuff I do now...but paying for it.

I'm not on a paying plan yet as I don't use it enough to justify paying for it. You can still use it for free. The main limitations with the free account are a max of 100 LingQs (though you can simply delete LingQs after SRSing them like I do) and you can't export LingQs directly to your SRS (which wouldn't help me much anyway as my SRS card layouts are likely nowhere close to the format they would try to send). If I start using it for another language more (like bringing my Spanish off the back burner), I'd probably spring for the $10/mo plan, though, as there are some definite advantages to reading text through a system like that.

At the moment I'm working on grammar so I can incorporate more structures into active use. I can understand a lot but can only use a fraction of it. So scriptorium + writing is helping me. I do like the idea behind LingQ but not enough to pay for it.

I tried buying a book to help me with shadowing in Japanese but my bank denied the transaction. I swear Play Asia is the only foreign site where my debit card works. So for now I'm just reading out dialogues and practice sentences in my textbooks and grammar books. I'm also going back to making 1 minute clips of actors and replaying the videos over and over. I'm assuming after listening to them a lot I'll be able to repeat them.

Wrote a new journal entry in both Japanese and Korean today on Lang 8. I've been mainly writing in Japanese this week and today was the first time I wrote an entry in Korean in months.

Taking a short break from writing. I wanna work on grammar and vocab heavily for a week and see if I can cut down on mistakes a little bit and rely a little less on English.
