I need a characters-to-page conversion rate =D
I'm going to read Chinese mostly online, using Pera Pera, and I need to know how many
pages I will have read each time.

I can't help you there. Does anyone know a reasonable conversion system?

I'm wondering whether reading through the forum can be counted as reading for my English
SC.. However, I probably won't count it anyway, because then I would not be that
motivated to read a BOOK :D
But maybe someone also wondered about that, so I'm just curious..

I think someone already asked this in the previous thread, but I can't remember the
answer. Do monolingual textbooks count? All my Russian exam prep and grammar books are in
Russian. I've also got 2 Finnish textbooks with everything in Finnish. Can those count
for reading? It's not quite as exciting as a novel, but it's also quite useful.

Monolingual textbooks count. I remember Cristina saying that many of them are harder than easy novels.
I also see no reason not to count the texts from a coursebook the way you'd count articles etc. That could amount to, like, 40-50 pages out of 200-300.
(BTW in case you're interested in Russian-based textbooks for Finnish, I recommend Opi puhumaan suomea by Муллонен and simply "Учебник финского языка" by Чернявская. They take it for granted that you know what cases and conjugations are)

I remember being allowed to count text from coursebooks, and I used NFWE last time. It can be a very helpful way to get yourself up to speed, like a graded reader. But I would still recommend going to some non-didactic native material soon as well.
