There's nothing wrong with 'Teach Yourself Tagalog'. I have a copy and it looks like an excellent start to the language. What is putting people off it, exactly? |

The lack of Tagalog materials is making this harder than it needs to be...really getting frustrating at this point.
Can anyone point me to a English-Tagalog pocket dictionary? I searched Amazon, etc, and just found the silly "pocket" or purse sized phrase books/ beginner dictionaries. Is there a REAL pocket dictionary out there for English-Tagalog? I will order from the Philippines if I have to, it is an essential part of my learning method.

An update here. I own basically all Tagalog resources in known existence and it seems that "Pilipino through Self-Instruction" is far superior. It is way better (in my opinion) than "Beginning Tagalog", in spite of the former's silly Indo-European style grammar treatment, as well as being much more comprehensive in scope. I encourage all Tagalog learns to get a hold of these volumes and their audio.
Note; as said before, the audio is very noisy and in some cases, nearly inaudible.
