Watching a film in a foreign language with English subtitles Home > Guide > Vocabulary > Learning Techniques > DVD > Target Language
For instance in ‘Le Dobermann’ , a 1997 French movie by Jan Kounen, actor Tchéky Karyo, a cranked-out Paris cop, begins the showdown scene with those memorable words ‘Shootez-moi tous ces tueurs de flics!’ (shoot me all those cop killers!). You may not agree with him, but you will probably remember that French for cop is flic . The more you watch movies in foreign languages, the more lines and dialogs you will remember. Of course you'll need to listen to them again and again to remember them correctly, but with subtitled DVDs this has become as easy as it gets. |
