If your business deals with Russians, speaking Russian will be a very important asset. Many russian businessmen are not overly gifted with foreign languages. If they can have a business partner who speaks Russian, they will turn to you. And if you prove reliable and straight talking, you will have the best of both worlds. In my own experience, Russians abroad tend to trust more a Russian-speaking foreigner than another Russian.
