I'd like to recommend an Argentine group called Bajo Fondo Tango Club, mainly a tune called "El Mareo" sung with Gustavo Cerati, one of the most outstanding singers of that country...pretty worthwhile...

Nice topic. I'll browse it more carefully later.
For those who enjoy brazilian music
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7HEB2bqn5M
The singer is Nara Leão, a very nice and influential musician, unfortunately already deceased.
The composer is Chico Buarque, well known among brazilian music fans.
The lyrics are full of bilingual puns between portuguese and french, which makes this music specially appropriate for this forum, I guess ...

When my Japanese has reached a level of perfection, I think I want to study an Eastern European language. I cannot decide yet between Hungarian and SerboCroat. Maybe I should play listening to both and create a little battle between the two, playing one of against the other. Does anyone know of any good Heavy Metal bands for any of these two languages? I want to build up music collections for possible languages which may be studied in the future. |

For SerboCroat, try Bijelo Dugme, Riblja Corba, Divlje Jagode or Van Gogh

wow... I am shocked that no one has posted any Korean music! I am definitely a pop music fan, and my love for the pop music of Korea is what drives me to learn the language. I STRONGLY recommend the group TVXQ (also known as DBSK, Dong Bang Shin Ki, and Tohoshinki). They are recognized by Guiness for having the largest fan base in the world, and are super famous throughout Korea, Japan, and south east Asia. Here is their newest music video, Mirotic.

I'm addicted to M-Flo a r & b/hip-hop/rap group that hails from Japan. I really like their album Astromantic. Fave song is Starstruck. & Verbal, the MC, is a hottie with talent to match!
Another Japanese band to look out for is L'arc-en-ciel. Kiss is their latest album & Seventh Heaven is my favorite song...even my parents liked it! & Hyde the lead singer has song albums on his own which rocks as well.
Oh & before I log out I recommend another Japanese singer Miyavi. hes edgy, but the edgy thats not soo marilyn manson like in trendiness (yea i dont like him).
Oh yes. how can i forget?
Bjork is super awesome. & i can sing a few of her songs that she did in Icelandic!
