Yes, Maltese is very closely related to Arabic. The main differences between it and the various dialects of Arabic is that it is written in the Roman alphabet, has lots of Italian (and more recently English) loanwords, its speakers are predominantly Roman Catholic, and they don't use Modern Standard Arabic as the language of prestige.
