(Warp, I'll reply to your post tomorrow or the next time I post. It's late and I just wanna make this a quick post before I watch the last episode of Secret Garden before I go to bed.)
Caught up on the SRS and I'm back to adding 20-30 cards a day, 10 if I was lazy/busy that day.
Just to show you how much Christmas vacation set me back in terms of SRS.
Deck || Total Cards || Suspended Cards || % of Suspended Cards
Korean || 2742 || 351 || 12.80%
Japanese || 1316 || 463 || 35.18%
Remembering The Kanji || 1860 || 879 || 47.26%
Total || 5918 || 1693 || 28.61%
By March, I'll be down to 0 suspended cards in each deck and plan to keep it that way. Add about 3-5% of suspended cards to each deck before I started this semester.

Well, it appears from what I'm reading that all of KARA except Gyuri (or a few places seem to be implying it is just Nicole, per her mom's prodding, not all 4 of them) are suing DSP citing (to quote KARA's lawyers) "Their misery is severe, and they can no longer remain under such a company, which is why they decided to declare their withdrawal." and "Their relationship has been destroyed to the point that it could never be restored again." Apparently, rumors are that this would also include Nicole leaving Heroes. :( Perhaps DSP didn't learn anything when their last high-profile group (SS501) left.
On the TV front, I watched episode 1 of Athena: GoW yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it. I've also downloaded God of Study and Coffee House, but haven't started on either yet. I did, however, drop a show. I got halfway through episode 2 of Jungle Fish 2 and was so utterly bored that I just closed the video player. That show is just too angsty and too...well, boring (in my opinion, anyway).
I'm still doing Gold List, but some days I'm less impressed with the method than others, so the jury is still out on whether I like it or not.

With the Kara situation, Hara went back to DSP. For now, the only member for sure that's gonna part ways with DSP is Nicole. The reports are saying Seungyeon might go back. Though, I'd prefer all five. If Nicole is the lone member not coming back, Kara would fall really hard on my Kpop list. She's the main reason I like Kara.
SS501 left because their contract expired.

Wrote my first journal entry of the year, and it's in Japanese. It was like 3 sentences, but I had to use a dictionary and refer to my grammar book a lot. I know I'll have to work a lot of grammar structures I suck at.

I guess that explains the differing reports then. Apparently 4 were going to leave originally, but some have changed their stance since. From what I've heard, Nicole's mom is quite set on having her leave DSP, so it doesn't look very promising that she'll be staying. :(
It's really hard to choose a favorite member of a group like Kara, because they all have really good points about them (with some other groups I find it a lot easier to have a preference). The one that seems like she would be the most fun to be around, though, is 100% Nicole. That and the cute way she cocks her head when she doesn't quite understand something in Korean...lol.

True...but if your most popular group's contract expires and they take advantage of that opportunity to go elsewhere, then that should be a clue that something is wrong. I've already seen it noted several times over the past year, that KARA was pretty much keeping DSP's K-pop world afloat financially after SS501 bailed. If KARA were to simply leave (the whole group) then DSP wouldn't really have much left in the K-pop scene, as far as I can see. Yes, Rainbow is starting to finally become more popular lately (in fact I'm even growing to really like them now since their last two singles are actually catchy songs...unlike their first two singles which held absolutely no interest for me), but they are still nowhere near the income-generators that KARA is yet.

I believe DSP makes its money in the drama and film sectors, so the Kpop scene is just extra profits. They'd probably like to keep Kara, but even the Japanese promotions don't bring in much (DSP only gets 8% of the profits, and they give a lot of that to the members.)

Ahh...I guess if that isn't one of the high profit areas, then I could see why they would be less concerned about it. :-/
BTW, I watched episode 1 of 공부의 신 last night. It was...different than I expected. Hopefully most of the "background info" is out of the way, though, and the story will pick up a bit. The only really "funny" bits so far are pretty much anything concerning the very odd character that 박지연 plays. I guess I just expected a funny role from 김수로 based on his appearances in 패밀리가 떴다 and his frequent roles in comedy movies.
I also just discovered yesterday that withs2 has soft subs for HKttR (in their donor section). I've downloaded the sub pack, but haven't really decided what I plan to do with them yet (since I'm already up to episode 15 or so unsubbed). I may go with some sort of trailing setup where I watch, say, episode 16 unsubbed and rewatch episode 1 subbed on the same day (continuing this offset throughout the series). Of course, doing that eats into my schedule even more, but fortunately those are only 25 minutes each. One advantage of doing that would be to see how well I grasped from listening and context from the initial unsubbed viewing once I see the English version later (and watching older episodes subbed should provide extra background context to help with understanding future unsubbed episodes better).

I used to do that with Invicible Youth until episode 20 because Soshified was always 2-3 episodes behind, but I got tired of doing it. It was more demotivating than anything. I already knew I didn't understand a lot, confirming it made it worse. That 25 minutes would be better used to learn more vocab than to rewatch episodes.
