I've also continued to read out loud Pieces of You. I'm over halfway done now. I find that as I practice speaking more, it really helps with my listening. I believe I wrote something similar to this last December/this January.

All my extensive reading is done out loud. It wasn't something I intentionally opted to do, I just found myself doing it. I silently read the English side, but the Korean side I seem to just instinctively vocalize while reading it.

I speed read in both English and Korean, so I can't read out loud nowhere near as fast as I can silently read in Korean, which is why I separate the activities.

Interesting. I've noticed the same thing. I find that semi-loud or whispered reading improves my concentration and understanding. Maybe that's because I know some words only from listening. If I don't voice the words in some way I'm usually just skimming.

Okay, I have a lot to update.

I have 2024 cards in my Anki deck now.

I have finished reading four books since my last update. I finished both books of 살수 and both books of 뿌리 깊은 나무. I have started reading 녹천에는 똥이 많다. I have also started reading web toons again and caught up to some of them and I have resumed reading manga in Korean (One Piece and Berserk.) I have also continued reading out loud in Pieces of You, but have no finished it yet.

I have started intensively reading 두번째 열병, adding every unknown word to Anki. I'm on page 30, but it was really rough the first ten pages. I'm adding less as time goes by.

I've continued watching a lot of dramas and movies. Lately I've just been watching what's currently airing (Oohlala Couple, Nice Guy, The Great Seer, My Daughter Seo Young, Full House 2) and watching some dramas and movies with Lee Na Young in them.

I've neglected grammar and writing a bit, but I think all of the reading I have done in the past month has unconsciously solidified and improved my writing ability and grammar knowledge. I'll probably write something this weekend on Lang 8.

Spent two days in Cleveland for medical testing and when I turned on the computer this morning, saw that I had 1100 reviews waiting for me in Anki. I'll probably spend tonight and tomorrow getting those reviews back to 0 before resuming the addition of cards on Saturday.

1100 reviews? Wow...

Regarding lang8, I think it would be interesting and surely inspiring to read something you've written in Korean. Would you post something in your log?

I haven't used lang8 in about a month and a half. I've been mainly focusing on vocab and reading. My active skills are much further behind. I can use intermediate grammar, it's just that I can't write that well due to a lack of practice. I tend to try writing about challenging things on lang8, so most of my articles there have a lot of corrections because that's where I try to incorporate new structures and vocabulary into my writing. I'll try writing an article (one without trying to use a bunch of unfamiliar structures) this weekend and I'll post it here and lang8. Who knows, maybe reading a few books within the past month has made me a better writer subconsciously.

Here's a journal entry I have just written druckfehler.

Journal Entry

That's the entry without corrections. Most of the corrections I get usually seem to be ways to say something more naturally rather than structural problems. I am working on trying to incorporate more complex grammar structures into my writing, but I don't want to force in any structures just for the sake of it.
