It's very easy. To announce yourself in the official thread you simply go to that thread and make an
announcement that you have joined team Sputnik. To create a log you go to where all the logs are, and make a new thread explaining your background and goals in Russian and any other language you want to study and put TAC 2012 Team Sputnik - and something which identifies it as your log in the title, and you are ready. You will be expected to write in your log regularly, but it is up to you how often. Some do it almost daily, many do it weekly, and at the very least it should be monthly. You are also expected to read the logs of your team mates and give them encouragement or advice if you can. Next Skype session will probably be Sunday in a week from now. Hello, it seems that I managed to start my log and make the announcement in the official TAC 2012 thread.

drsarvo, welcome!
I've been off the forum the past few days since it's been terribly busy on my end--sorry about that! In regards to the Skype session this Sunday, it's on as long as there are enough people who want to attend. Personally, I don't believe I'll be able to make it, since I have a flight on Sunday just around that time. I'll definitely be attending the session after that, though! If you can make the session Sunday, though, please do post, so we know whether to host it, and who is coming. Since the Skype group call was initiated from my account last time, and I'll be offline, some special arrangements will have to be made. Hey All!
I've been terribly busy these past couple of weeks, hence the forum absence. I won't be able to make it to this Skype session for these reasons, but I'm currently looking for a way to do so!
