Hi, everyone.
So, this post has been a loooong time overdue. I think it's been about a month or over since I've posted here, a fact which I can scarcely believe for one, and a fact which makes me rather sad. I must apologize to you all for my absolute neglect of this forum and language-learning. The past month has been really difficult for me, as I was in a sort of severe down period, and I found myself paralyzed when it came to any tasks that engaged the mind beyond simple staring off into space. Everything then tumbled, from my grades to my languages. I think I've recovered now, or maybe there will never be a complete recovery, but I feel stable enough at least to finally pull myself from the frustrating rut I was in and start anew. I had been under some subconscious impression that a kind of supernatural spiritual intervention would zap me into normalcy again, but I've since realized that that's a silly thing to expect...healing comes with time, and it's initiated by one's own self. I think, then, that I'm back, and I'm here to stay! No more bailing out on you all, I promise! I'm really sorry about the past few weeks--not being there for the Skype sessions, in particular--and I hope you can forgive my inattentiveness in that regard. None of that anymore, plus my log will actually be updated this go around. >_> By the way, congratulations, everyone, on the fabulous progress you've all made thus far! I'm really impressed, especially as most of you are juggling multiple languages. Your successes inspire me and make me happy. :) We've still got months and months to go, and I think we'll really make them worthwhile! As a late birthday gift, I'm being treated to a trip to Disneyland, and we're leaving in fifteen minutes, so I better be off! I'm sure I'll spot some nice foreign tourists whom I can converse with. Good to see you, Kat. I was starting to worry about you. I know exactly what you have been through. After all the death and distruction of last year I was in a dark place for almost 6 weeks, and this forum was the only place where I was functional. I couldn't go to work, and I did not have the strength to meet friends. Being a mom and a HTLAL forum member was the only two things I could handle.
The good thing is that we human beings have the most extraordinary ability to pull back from episodes like that. You are an invaluable asset to our team, Kat, so we are so happy to see you back. I look forward to reading your log. Big hug from Cristina 1 person has voted this message useful | |

You've been most missed, Kat. And don't apologize for anything. You've been through a
tough patch, and things like that take time. I can completely relate to what you've been through, as I've had my fair share of issues in the past couple of years. It's great to see you back and I'm really looking forward to reading your log again. Make 2012 a great year!
