Visas are not solely an economic thing. They could make at least a normal visa regime.
The previous rich experiance of unilateral grants has shown that they are fruitless.
About me, who spoils the image of Russia. That's how I see the current situation in the
world, and I don't have anything against people in any countries or even their
governments, but I consider certain states hostile to Russia. I can't explain here why
because of the forum format but can do it somewhere else.

I just want to add that I'm grateful that since June 2010 Brazilians don't need a tourist visa for Russia anymore, and vice-versa, otherwise I'd probably have gotten stuck with all the bureaucracy.
It's not about pride, definitely. It's only politics.

Let's please move on from the topic of visas. I've already had to delete a couple of posts, and I would prefer not to delete any more.

@ Marc, I respect every country's right to have their own rules for visas. Sometimes one might wonder whether national pride and the desire for equality does not get in the way for good economic sense, though.
Russia has some wonderful cities - Moscow and St. Petersburg being the best known ones. If visa regulations were dropped, Russia's economy would have a boost which would be a good thing for everyone with all the money which would be coming inn.
The example of Ukraine is not quite the same, because Russia with its big cities is known by every child in the world, whereas Ukraine is relatively little known even in Europe, and they do not even have a tourist office in Kyiv.
You ask how many Europeans who go to the Ukraine, well I cannot speak for others, but I have gone there 4 times, and after having seen first hand today how much hazzle it is to get a Russian visa, I suspect that Ukraine is where I will go in the future.
Which is sad. Not because I do not love Ukraine, but because I would be prepared to love Russia as well.

I see the American reason, but it does not help us, and it is not pleasant when you have
to prove that you won't stay there and that they actually don't want you to visit their
country. They have right to do that, but how can you complain about other countries then?

An eye for an eye makes everyone go blind. Sometimes we just have to look at the bigger picture:-)

OK, I see. you can also go to Belarus. The visa is not difficult to get and the country
is, as I heard, more peaceful and pleasant than Russia.

Привет, дорогие друзья!
I am sorry I have been absent from the forum for so long. I am getting a little stuck with my Russian, nevertheless I keep reading euronews and Assimil (I had to return to lesson 42 in order to review the material, specially movement verbs) and I am watching До свидания лето in youtube, it's very funny and I keep learning new words and expressions.
How sad, Russia seems so hostile to visitors. But when you have oil for sell you can afford not worrying to attract foreign tourists.
I expect next Sunday Skype session will be performed, at last.
