Assimil Experiment: El Catalán sin esfuerzo - Day 60 - Active 2, Passive 58
The second ative lesson wasn't difficult either. Thanks, Assimil, your course is really well devised!
The passive phase lesson at this point are about history, which are interesting even if you already knows something about it.
Time required for individual lessons (minutes)
Primera (1) + cinquanta-set (57) = 28
Segona (2) + cinquanta-vuit (58) = 28
Total time for groups of lessons (hours)
1 to 7 = 2.1
8 to 14 = 3.1
15 to 21 = 2.8
22 to 28 = 3.8
29 to 35 = 3.1
36 to 42 = 3.4
43 to 49 = 2.7
50 to 56 = 2.0
I would add about 1.0 hour for each group due to repetitions during commute.
Total time
1 to 56 = 31.1 hours

Assimil Experiment: El Catalán sin esfuerzo - Day 62 - Active 3, Passive 59
I'm doing something that seems very effective: Listen and repeat out loud (during commute) the active lesson of the day. Since you've already studied it some weeks ago and just "produced" it, this text is well enough memorized, and the repetitions come almost effortlessly. Besides, at this point the speech pace of these early lessons are much easier and you have lots of time between phrases.
Time required for individual lessons (minutes)
Primera (1) + cinquanta-set (57) = 28
Segona (2) + cinquanta-vuit (58) = 28
Tercera (3) + cinquanta-nou (59) = 29

Assimil Experiment: El Catalán sin esfuerzo - Day 64 - Active 4, Passive 60
In spite of some mistakes and not remembering all words, I'm very happy about this active phase. It's clear that with some aditional study (SRS, extra grammar exercises etc.) it would be even easier and, possibly, without any mistake.

Assimil Experiment: El Catalán sin esfuerzo - Day 66 - Active 5, Passive 61
At this point, I think that the speech pace could be slightly faster and we would still understand it quite well. Anyway, after the end of the passive phase, I'm going to listen everyday (while still in the active phase) at least 20 minutes of some radio station (through internet). I would appreciate if someone could give me any advice.

Assimil Experiment: El Catalán sin esfuerzo - Day 67 - Active 6, Passive 62
I'm not so happy about active lesson 6 because of some important mistakes. On the other hand, the repetition of this early lessons out loud seems to be an important exercise, and it makes clear how far from speaking Catalan am I.
This course doesn't have the humour caracteristic of other Assimil I've seen or heard of. It is heavy on history and Catalan pride, which interests me a lot, for various reasons, but I'm not so sure that it would catch everybody's attention.

Assimil Experiment: El Catalán sin esfuerzo - Day 68 - Active 8, Passive 63
Lesson 63 isn't a review lesson, but a normal one and quite big (8 minutes recording). No new grammar and that's how it's going to be till the end of the course. It means that I already know (or should know) all essential grammatical features of Catalan. I'm sure that the differences between Catalan and Spanish or Portuguese shouldn't be huge, but it's hard to believe that those differences are that small either.
Anyway, six more passive lessons, after that I'm going to "the real world", let's see how good are my receptive skills at this point.
About my productive skills, I'm sure that they are still at a very low level, at this point at most A2, and that is possible only due to the fact that there are so many common words among Romance languages.

Assimil Experiment: El Catalán sin esfuerzo - Day 70 - Active 9, Passive 64
Nothing new, even the same amount of somewhat annoying mistakes. Yes, yes, we need to make mistakes in order to learn, but there would be much less mistakes if, for instance, I've been using Anki. No regrets, Assimil is great and I'm learning a lot.
Next week, after the end of the passive phase, I'll start to read the book "Sandalies D'Escuma" by Maria Angels Anglada. The subject by itself is very interesting, the life of a young lady in ancient Greece. I've skimmed the book a little and I'm quite confident that it'll be possible to read it almost without the use of a dictionary. I'll also start to listen to some radio stations through internet.

Assimil Experiment: El Catalán sin esfuerzo - Day 71 - Active 10, Passive 65
My active lesson today went very badly. At this point, I can only hope that it will improve in the next lessons. On the other hand, I'm having no problems at all with the longer passive lessons, understanding all of it already by the first listening.
I'm not going to redo active lessons. Actually, I'll not even complete all active lessons and I'm planning to stop it at about lesson 47, which means that my Assimil Experiment will end by the end of February.
After that, during this year, I'll mostly read and listen to Catalan. Maybe, when it feels right, I could try to write something in Lang-8, but Catalan is not going to remain at the top of my priorities after March.
Time required for individual lessons (minutes)
Nou (9) + seixanta-quatre (64) = 30
Deu (10) + seixante-cinc (65) = 35
Total time for groups of lessons (hours)
1 to 7 = 2.1
8 to 14 = 3.1
15 to 21 = 2.8
22 to 28 = 3.8
29 to 35 = 3.1
36 to 42 = 3.4
43 to 49 = 2.7
50 to 56 = 2.0
Active (1-8) Passive (57-63) = 3.6
I would add about 1.0 hour for each group due to repetitions during commute.
Total time
1 to 56 = 35.7 hours
