I have almost (!) completed Le Breton sans peine. I just have the last lesson left to
do (which is an Añjela Duval poem - dear lord how do you translate a poem from French into Breton...)... and then I can complete that and focus on genuine Breton material (with a dictionary, or, hopefully audio/video with subtitles...or basically anything at all. It *is* Breton). Furthermore there was a Team MIR meeting marred by the most atrocious of technical issues, but eventually I spoke quite a bit of Swedish and French with Cristina, both of which went off without a hitch. But then I know I can speak French. I was surprised that my Swedish was still intact though. But then I'm not slarvigt at all. edit: and now I am done!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats on finishing Assimil Breton! I noticed you put Icelandic on your "studies" list. Congrats on that, too! How seriously will you study Icelandic? Just for fun or do you have defined goals?

Complete the booklet, do some Anki. I don't know, really, I have loved this language since I was like 15 (and had the chance to travel to Iceland two years ago; best thing I've ever done). I will see how far I get, it was about time I got round to it. It's also possible because I don't have to work through Le Breton now. You can call it dabbling, but eventually...I will finish the book before *I* know it anyway.

Comment j'utilise l'Assimil
Comme il y a beaucoup de monde qui utilisent les ouvrages Assimil, vous voici un exemple d'un utilisateur! Ici je vous présente mon nouveau cahier que l'on peut voir ci-dessous: 
Alors, vous verrez qu'il s'agit de l'Hébreu ici. Moi, j'utilise l'Assimil pour pas mal des langues; j'ai fini les ouvrages russe (avec anglais comme langue de base) et breton, et j'en ai trois autres; l'hébreu, le roumain, et le malgache. Utilisons l'exemple hébreu. Ce que je fais d'abord, c'est l'écoute. Normalement j'ecoute les enregistrements quelques fois, disons trois ou quatre (j'ai pas la force pour les écouter une dizaine de fois, ça ferait mal). Je suis presque littéralement les instructions; mais ce que je fais qui est important, c'est que je n'écris pas les leçons eux-mêmes; je note seulement les réponses (les corrigés sont inclus ici). Pour mémoriser la vocabulaire, j'utilise soit l'Anki, soit les listes de mots (qui viennent normalement après le leçon en cas d'utilisation, mais cette-fois ci je n'utilise pas ni l'un ni l'autre, comme c'est une expériment tentant d'élucider combien de mots je pourrais rappeler sans aucun outil de souvenir). Veuillez aussi noter que les réponses à la première exercice sont toujours en français! Je sais que ça pourrait être deviante mais c'est ainsi que je fonctionne. La langue de base de cette ouvrage est le français et il n'y a pas de quoi là faire des changements; ça compliquera seulement les choses! Donc il me faut une bonne maîtrise de français afin de m'en sortir bien! Heureusement, les premières leçons contiennent rarement des mots inconnus, même pour moi, un néerlandais. Normalement on écrit de gauche à droite, mais comme il s'agit du hébreu les réponses en hébreu s'écrivent de droite à gauche. Pour ceux qui trouvent cette habitude aberrante, c'est parce que l'hébreu s'écrit comme ça. Il faut s'y habituer. Notez également que j'écris les réponses en cursive. Je l'ai fait ainsi pour le russe quand je l'étudiais, et je le ferai également pour des autres langues (y compris le chinois, le japonais, l'arabe...) Mais comme il s'agit d'un abjad ici (et non un alphabet!) ça ne me donne pas aucune difficulté. J'espère que cela vous aide à comprendre mes méthodologiques pour l'apprentissage.
