Where are you thinking of going in Nicaragua? I think October would be a pretty wet time to go there. They get much more rain in that month than any other.

Ah, that must be why airfare is cheaper. I saw October cited as the end of the rainy season but was hoping that would mean it's lighter. Are we talking downpours? I'd be sticking to major tourist routes: Granada, Léon, Ometepe. In Guatemala I'd be going to Antigua, Lake Atitlan, and/or maybe Copán, Honduras. I keep hearing that Guatemala is fine along the major tourist routes yet others say it was the most dangerous place in the world that they've visited. So I'm finally making progress in GGS2. While driving home from the study group I let
the CD run past the first unit while stuck in traffic. I noticed that many little "bits" get used quite a bit, such as Caithfidh méa rá (I'd have to say) and réitím go maith leo (I get on well with him), and the verb aithne (to know a person) is worked a lot. I went through the coneversations and took down all the little "chunks" of essential bits which has helped a lot. I should be able to make quick work of the 2nd unit next. My approach seems to be working well. The ones "married" to the book and grammar seem to have more trouble whereas for me, working a lot on the conversations and watching Aifric makes what little bits I have flow easier. Since the Irish immersion week is off, that's no longer a proficiency target for me. But Benny (Irishpolyglot) will be swinging through on his book tour so I can make that my target - try to have a half-decent conversation in Irish with him. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

I went ahead and bit the bullet and signed up for the Super Challenge. I've already been
reading and watching TV series so I might as well tally it. I'm pretty confident that I can complete a full SC in French but I also signed up for Irish and Spanish as I ought to be able to complete a half one in one or both of them. Even if I don't make it, if it encourages me to make the choice to watch something in Irish/Spanish or pick up a book it will serve its purpose.
