Yeah, I support Serpent's idea. The more the merrier. :)
@Brun Ugle Here's my TAC 2013 log.

Anya is on five teams. Is it sensible to be on five teams? Will you make no limit on it? |

I'm on four, but it doesn't seem onerous if you're already studying the relevant languages. As long as one studies the languages in question regularly, and tracks the progress, I don't see anything unusual.

I respectfully disagree.
Activity level can be accurately predicted (in some cases), by a number of factors. How many newbies are there? How long have each of the members been studying languages in general, and their target language in particular? How active have the members been in teams before? Do they have any prior TAC experience?
I predict that the Russian team will be busy. By March. Romance team 1 will fall apart. No one is going to call me a psychic when that happens.
Romance team 1, please PLEASE please prove me wrong! :)

(Cross-posted to main signup thread and both Romance Team threads)
Checking the front page lists for the two Romance team threads, it looks like they have 18 (counting Kerrie) and 13
(not counting Cristina) members, respectively, and I'm not yet listed on either. If no one objects, can I be officially
listed on team two? (French and Italian)
EDIT: apparently trying to post two things in quick succession triggers a spam filter, so I'll cross-post in a bit.

I disrespectfully agree :)

Of course there are factors that allow for some accuracy on predictions. But when you have to predict what you haven't seen on the basis of what you have seen already*, --and there's not really any other way to try and make predictions of any kind-- you're basically ruling out the chance of any changes in order to be accurate. We know that's not how the world works, and that's why so many predictions fail when change *can* happen.
So, I honestly hope for your good predictions to become true, and for the bad ones to be wrong. After all, isn't that exactly what we all do about predictions? Hey, you were right -- anyone could have totally predicted what my hopes would be ;)
*Basically extrapolating what known members will do from what they did in the past, what newbies will do from what others did when they were newbies.

Me too. =)
I think, for the most part, we will have very solid teams for 2013. We have a solid core group on most of the teams.

No one said 40 or 50 members. Of course the extreme is not merry.

I don't really understand what you mean by "respect?" My tone of voice might be a bit too blunt/honest but I respect everyone. Up there it seemed to me Brun Ugle is open to suggestions. But if you say she has absolute power then I don't even know why you said what you said since then your writing supposedly had no value.
@Brun Ugle: Please tell us if you are open to suggestions or want to decide everything alone. Whether democratic choice or smoothness of organization is more important to you. |
|
|
I am always open to suggestions. It was due to several people asking to do this that I have made these rules. Most people seem to be in agreement with me, but I am aware I cannot please everyone.
