To me, 難しい is more pain in the arse kind of difficult. Perhaps we should use "Genki",
because "genki" is a fantastic word without any exact English counterpart. "Genki", to me, means that there are no worries, that everything's great, etc. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

I'm sure U isn't hard to pronounce, but when it is in a different alphabet, it's hard to know how to pronounce it. I also think we need a name that is recognizable to other people who've never studied Japanese, so I'm not so sure about muzukasii. I don't like it so much anyway.
BTW, if we had kept going with the alphabet, I assume we wouldn't have stopped with the vowels. If we go all the way to ん, we would have enough letters to last the rest of our lives, at least for some of us. Especially if we include things like がぎぐげご. So,what kind of Japanesy things can we come up with that other people will recognize? It should sound a little impressive too. I really like the Russian team's space theme, but I can't think of anything like that with Japanese. I like Genki as well. I think we need a better name than う/u.

In case it wasn't obvious, 難しい wasn't a serious suggestion.

Some suggestions off the top of my head... it's hard to think of words people will
recognize as Japanese but which aren't "weeby". ;-) Iku! Ganbaru! Yen! +Alpha Pera Pera Otaku Maybe not so impressive sounding and/or less well known... Daijoubu Naka naka Sasuga I'm not a fan of genki to be honest but I don't mind if people want it. None of the names you mention are remotely recognisable. Harakiri would work, sensei would work,
samurai would work, lotus would work if you want something more peaceful (she says, sticking her nose where it doesn't belong again :-) 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

But lotus isn't a japanese word, if it were, it would be something like
Rotsusu/Lotsusu. And "Sensei" is a honorific used to refer to teachers, doctors, etc. thus it sounds kind of off. I think Genki would be a nice word as it's a "cultural" word. I have no idea what the MIR are for instance (perhaps I should have paid more attention in history class...) 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

Well, we don't have to limit ourselves to English words of Japanese origin... at this
point we are just making suggestions. Karoshi might be more appropriate than harakiri but both are pretty negative. Some more commonly known words then. Tsunami Shogun Ninja Ronin Katana Banzai Bonsai Haiku Jitsu Kimono Sushi Wasabi I quite like Team Satori or maybe Team Zen. 1 person has voted this message useful |
