Hello everyone from Team gök oklar! Congratulations to all of you on learning Turkish!
I have committed myself to TAC Team Viking for 2013. With my schedule I can really only concentrate on 1 language at a time. However, I do love Turkish. Plus, I am forgetting much of my Turkish that i have learned. So, may I follow along with your team but not be an official " contestant" ? Merhaba arkadaşlar! Ben Türkçe çok seviyorum. "Göktürkler" just sounds more 'Turkish' than "Gök oklar" (as the expression "gök oklar" doesn't already exist) .. Considering the team is impressed by militarian images for choosing the name, I suggest that "Yeniçeriler" (Janissaries) can be an option, too) Good luck everyone ! 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

My slight reservation with taking the name Göktürkler is that it refers to some group of people who spoke Old Turkic / Old Uyghur rather than something more closely linked to Turkey (I've also put out feelers to the few active members who're learning Azeri or Uzbek in an attempt to make the team Turkic rather than Turkish, but we know that it's a big enough deal to come upon foreigners learning Turkish, let alone the other Turkic languages). Gök oklar/Gökoklar is just a bit of a twist to the original name.
We still have some time and more suggestions are welcome even beyond the common martial ones (cf. Team Sparta, Team Viking). The self-mocking label of Sarı Ördekler/Sarıördekler (cf. Bozkurtlar) has some charm for a bunch of foreigners learning Turkish, doesn't it? :-) fireballtrouble, is there any reference in Turkish / Oğuz / Turkic mythology that could be suitable? 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

Could I please get suggestions for at least one daily comic strip in Turkish that's presented online?
It doesn't need to be a comic strip where Turkish is the cartoon's original language; translations to Turkish can be good too. If there were something like Comic Strip Archive in Turkish, that'd be more than enough for me. :-) 1 person has voted this message useful | |||
