Thanks, Mohave. You may just have convinced me to start using FWT after I finish Hugo.

Just wanted to stop by and wish you a happy and successful 2015, Mohave.

I find your log and your amazing progress in the Super Challenge very inspiring. And I have to admit I am a bit envious that you probably have spent far more leisure time at Brussels than I have in 2014 :-) Anyway, thanks a lot for letting know about 'Pêle-Mêle'. I had never heard about that shop, but will definitely pay a visit in the next months!

During your stay at Brussels, did you visit other places in Belgium as well?

Salut Mohave !

Je veux te souhaiter bonne chance avec tes études de français cette année. J'espère que tu ailles améliorer
beaucoup plus que tu escomptes !

---------------------------------------------------

I want to wish you good luck with your French studies this year. I hope you're goint to improve a lot more than
you anticipate!
-------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------
I read what you said to Jeffers regarding Assimil French Without Toil and now I feel like buying it as well,
especially if I can find the audio tracks (I definitely shouldn't buy more French courses!)

Congrats on everything you have accomplished so far Mohave!
I might have to go back and read through your log up 'til now.

Good luck this year!

Do you know around which lessons FWT starts to cover the Passé Simple? I'd love to add those areas to my study this year.

I bought French Without Toil (1946 or whatever edition) based on this thread, so thanks Mohave. It was cheap even
with shipping from UK so why not. It will be interesting to compare with NFWE (which I have not yet picked back up,
must do that).

Hi Mohave, I've seen your posts around the forums and they are always helpful and
insightful.

I've started NFWE, but like others on here, I am currently getting a vintage copy of the
FWT book as well. I was wondering what you might think of it as a progressive reader,
without the audio? The cultural aspects interest me the most, so I'm thinking of using it
less as the traditional Assimil course and more as a casual lunch-time reader that I can
learn from.

Thanks in advance!

Hey Mohave! Thank you for your warm welcome to the French team!
To answer your question I'd say my comprehension on the HP is really good (after having read
the first 5, the wizardy vocab just kind of snowballs). The Stranger audiobook was also good
but definitely missing some things here and there, I will try and get around to a relisten.
Camus seems great for readability, or in this case listenability, and there's the sense that
one is actually reading French literature to boot!

Taking a look at your goals for this year, it seems like we are at similar points with
reading; I am really hoping to crack Les Mis this year. I started it before and it went
alright but it wasn't easy enough to just kind of pass the night away.

It would be cool to start it at the same time sometime this year :)
