I'm glad to hear you made it off the ice block. I just hope it was a French polar bear (Cécile?) and got some French practice in.
I'm also curious to see where your ASL studies take you. I've studied a little bit of Spanish (of Spain) Sign Language (LSE: lengua de signos española) and it's something i'd love to come back to. It's hard to maintain, though, when you have no one to practice with. The idea of thinking in signs rather than spoken words is really interesting to me.
Good luck and i'm glad to see you still around, i really enjoy your logs :)

The numbers video – she demonstrates numbers 1-5 with palm forward, whereas one of my
earlier youtube videos definitely demonstrated those numbers palm facing back. Don’t
yet know if it makes a difference. |

It does if you're asking for two of something in the UK ;)
Lifeprint shows them with palm facing you, however.

Thanks Crush, much appreciated! No real idea about the bear. I forgot to try French,
and as far as I recall it did not laugh at any of my jokes, so for sure it must not have
understood English.
I am definitely finding ASL pretty cool so far, and I expect it will be interesting down
the road to see the differences between sign languages.

Day 27
Spanish
Michel Thomas – Disc 8 again
ASL
Returned to practising fingerspelling recognition at fingerspelling
practice . Dropped back to slow speed. Up to five letter length words are
fine; six and over are tougher. Experienced a complete brain freeze over “h-e-n-c-e”
- I was concentrating so much on watching the fingers that I forgot this is a real word
(and one I use from time to time), so I kept thinking I was misreading, for about seven
replays.

Community, Season 5, episode 6, featured some sign language: "I detonated a mollusk."
There is something seriously wrong with that show.... By wrong, I of course mean
awesome.
