You can now get married, have children, and meet the family (and apparently go to church with them, too) in ASL. Looks like you're ready to go out in the wild!
Just don't forget to keep up with your Spanish...

Getting there slowly, but I am going absolutely nowhere before being able to sign "Where
is the bathroom/toilet", though I suppose this is less of a compelling issue if I were
truly in the wild!

I think there are a few universal signs that you could use.
I'd really like to learn sign language, though i'd planned on learning LSE (Spanish Sign Language). I wonder how far Courtney's course would get you? Also, is there a prayer session every class? Haha.

I'm not sure how far the material on Courtney's site would take one, but I note there is
the Beginning Course and then a two part Basic Course - even if nothing more than a basic
introduction, I like it because she is so cheerful and goes pretty slow and overexplains.
Once I am through that site, I think there is a lot of material on the lifeprints website
and elsewhere - enough to keep me busy for 15 minutes per day for the year anyways.
As well, there seems to be quite a bit more ASL material available on youtube than I had
expected: a fair bit of instructional material and some ASL versions of popular media,
including a lot of student-sourced stuff.
