Has anyone tried the Linguaphone Second Stage CD Language courses ? They only do them in English, French, German, and Spanish. They imply the course is entirely in the target language but don't give a huge amount of detail.

They are all in the target language and consist of 60 lessons using about 2500 additional words to the first
stage linguaphone courses. The format is that of dialogue and grammar/usage exercises. Is there anything you want to know specifically? 4 persons have voted this message useful | |

They differ from the advanced assimil courses in these ways: Grammer notes are explained
in the target language. There are many written excercises, and some recorded oral exercies. Some exercices are more open-ended than you would find in the beginner courses: write a small article about xyz, write a letter etc. There's quite a few lessons dedicated to phonetics and intonation. I've studied with the French one, which was quite good and carefully prepared, even if the content of the lessons wasn't very inspiring. I am interested in this course, but am worried about the price tag (over $200). Here are

The Spanish one is quite useful, I don't regret buying it, though even second hand it
cost more than any other language book I have -although I'm contemplating buying "German for Reading", which (amazingly for just a book with no audio) may well cost more :-( - but it definitely feels like studying. These courses mention a vocabulary book. Is this also entirely in the target language ?

How much audio is included in these courses ? The description says it's 6 CD's, but are they full length ? I came across an older French Complete course and the Cd's are about 35 minutes each.
