C'était une semaine vraiment productive, for a change! J'ai fait d'Assimil pour français et vu le journal et je vraiment comprends mieux et mieux, et école bien sûr.
Und für Deutsch hatte ich eine Sprichtest, ich glaube dass war ok. Auch habe ich auf die ZDF Site das programm "History" entdeckt und davon habe ich viel gesehen, sehr viel... (addict!)
Well yeah that's pretty much it, I'm so glad test week over and it went pretty well so it was a nice care free week.
Ahh une autre chose que je fais c'est apprendre un peu d'argot , et alors le verlan! Infaisable , un jour... un jour...
I cought myself thinking in French this week too, j'suis tellement content!

Good stuff Request. I am moving through Assimil myself learning German from a French
base. I began the active wave a few weeks ago and have found overall I've retained a lot.
Its can be slightly overwhelming as you hit the later stages as there's more vocab to
retain and things tend to slip quickly from the mind. How are you finding Assimil? How do
you approach your lessons as most people have a different style?

Good luck with that - I myself only know a dozen-ish, and use a very few of them ;)

Must be strange... German from a French base, my head couldn't handle that for sure, not because of my French but I think a Dutch or English base fit German better. (but that's me)
How I do it: Well, I put relavent sentences in Anki E-F, F-E, with F-E I only translate the words I dont know yet so for exemple:
Tournez le dos au vendeur un instant.
Tournez=tourner=to turn
That was my first card. Now I know tourner so I earse it and only keep the E-F.
I also try to shadow the passive wave but I'm behind with that, so I decided to do it during the active wave, my reviewing of the passive wave will be shadowing.
So anki and shadowing, and I retain the passive/active split.
But I'm not sure yet how to go through the active fase... Will find something.
As for Assimil, I like it but some lessons have a bit of a strange vocab and I remember some pretty gruesome, lessons too.
How do you go through the book then?

I don't enter any vocab into a SRS. That might a be a little painful for me.
I usually follow the below pattern.
-Listen to 2 or 3 times
-Read and Listen in German
-Listen in German and Read in French
-Then I listen a couple more times pausing and correcting my pronunciation of new words
-I read briefly the grammar notes
-Then I listen several times to listening exercise without reading first.(I try to
concentrate on this step)
*I skip the fill in the blank section.
I do things this way as I've found that is what I'm most comfortable with. I might do
half of the steps on one day and complete the lesson the next day. My vocab retention
is a little worrying.

Salut Request,
j’avais voulu répondre à ton log depuis plusieurs semaines mais j’avais pas assez de
temps. Il est plaisant à lire. Tu semble être le membre de group le plus actif sur le
log, j’espère que ton enthusiasme dura. Est-ce que tu participera au 6wc en février?
