I'm going to London and Edinburgh this week. Any recommendations for used book stores that have a decent selection of language books?

One of the best language bookshops in London (Britain even!) is LCL International
Bookseller, 104 Judd Street, Bloomsbury, London, WC1H 9NT - Near to Kings Cross/St
Pancras station and the British Library.
Grant and Cutler at Foyles at 113 Charing Cross Road is also an excellent choice.

I'd recommend Grant & Cutler largely over LCL:
-much bigger
-better choice of languages
-better choice of books, prices are written on the books (while at LCL you bring your books to the cashier to know how much they cost...)
-books in foreign language: huge section for French, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Polish, Russian, Japanese. (I'm just talking of native reading material here, there are obviously many more languages in terms of learning material).
-and it's located in the biggest bookshop in Europe.
But if you have time, go to both, of course.
As for Edinburgh, I'm afraid there is nothing there worth a visit in terms of language learning material... at least, I am not aware of any after living there for a year.

LCL has now closed down its Judd Street shop - a testiment to the online age and changing expectations of
customer service (i.e. businesses with surly and rude staff fail, no matter what the old skool charm of the
place).

The people at the LCL were quite bad. But their stock was fantastic. I picked up Beaton's
German Usage for £30, when Amazon was quoting £1,500 for a used copy.
