Because in Dutch the uvular fricative is never voiced. From wiki :
The sound spelled <ch> is a voiceless velar fricative [x] in Northern Dutch and is
claimed to be a voiceless palatal fricative [ç] in Southern Dutch, including all of
Dutch-speaking Belgium.[11] (However, in many or perhaps most of these regions, the
actual sound used gives the impression of being front-velar, not palatal.) In the North
/ɣ/ is usually realized as [x] or [χ] and thus has merged with /x/ (which may be
realized as either [χ] or [x]), whereas in the South the distinction between /ʝ/ and /
ç/ has been preserved (neither of which may actually be palatal sounds; see above).
This doesn't apply to many dialects of West Flanders, East Flanders and Zeeland, which
realize both /ʝ/ and /ç/ as [x].

But it's not connected to its uvularness. In other languages the two uvular sounds may
contrast (like in Armenian, for example). If a voiced uvular fricative existed in Dutch
, it could be easily confused with R.

That's great, but they are not in Greek. My point is that you can draw the analogy
between Dutch and Greek here because the sounds are nominally the same - if you grew up
speaking standard Dutch. The uvulars can contrast, but they don't in Dutch.
Back to Cristina's log.

Chocolate is not sweet, it's bitter. |

Then I understand why my Ukrainian friends always wanted me to bring Norwegian chocolate. Ours is very
sweet :-)

Ours is very sweet as well, and I'm sure I tasted a sweet Russian one too! I don't remember the name, but the cover was blue and it had bears on it.
EDIT: It was this one! Very good, btw. =)

What about sweet men?
You see, Solfrid Cristin, rules are sometimes stricter for men...

When it comes to children, better safe than sorry. I'm sure all the sweet men will understand and agree :)

Your post seems sexist to me. When I was a child, it didn't matter whether I was kissed
by a man or a woman.
