What are the languages used - both globally and locally - by the mining industry?
English and Spanish are obvious answers, but I am particularly looking for input about the importance of more "local" languages... what about Swahili, Afrikaans, Mongolian, Indonesian, etc.? 1 person has voted this message useful | |

As I'm sure you're aware, Wilco, the vast majority of the world's mining companies are
headquartered in Canada. So, I think you've got Canada's languages covered. :) It seems that Chinese miners are being employed everywhere, from Canada to Africa, so perhaps Mandarin in addition to any local languages.
