Any word about Middle Eastern team? Alef hasn't worked out so well last year, so we might start afresh instead of continuing the old thread, but we need a godmother...

Is godmother/father the equivalent of a moderator of a thread? I'd like to know what's involved before I volunteer.

I think Solfrid Cristin already explained it quite well. Also, I noticed you're learning Yemeni Arabic, so mind popping by my 2013 log?

In addition to joining the Korean team, I would like to join the Japanese and Chinese
teams.

While I might be an experienced Japanese learner, I'm afraid I'm a complete n00b at this TAC thing. I think someone mentioned earlier that the team leader should be someone who has taken part in these challenges before.
That's not a requirement (and neither is your learning experience). It's just important to be a consistent and experienced member of this forum. Last year some teams/team threads were started by newbies who disappeared.

I'd like to continue studying multiple languages, with a special focus on Russian and Irish. Please sign me up for Team Celts and Team Russian in 2014.

Will you start the team thread of Team Celts, a Theango? I think everybody agrees that you should be our captain again.

Please note that I will join Team Russian but as an observer.

And I am still impatiently waiting to see if there will be a Team Greek next year.

REMINDER
A couple of team threads have been started by members who don't want to be leaders. That's okay, but remember that being the thread starter is a responsibility. Two weeks after you start it, you'll be the only person who's able to edit posts in this thread (along with the mods). You need to keep a member list in the first post, and also the links to logs and optionally resources.

EDIT: Also, if you've not been a member long enough, you'll be unable to post links and PM people. That also makes you ineligible for being a leader.

Do we need a team-neutral thread for choosing the leaders? It's also okay to start a thread with the sole purpose of choosing the leader (if you want to start a poll, better just use http://www.easypolls.net).

Basically, keep this all in mind if you want to start a team thread.

I would like to join a French team and a Japanese team. I am not sure about Spanish yet,
so I will join team Iberia as an observer, if this is possible.

By the way, do we have any volunteers for leading team(s) Iberia/Spanish+? We already have godparents/guarding angels for both European and Brazilian Portuguese, as far as I remember, but what about Spanish?
do you mean you're interested in being the team leader? ;)
