Edit: Rather than just make this an Italian-centered one, it might be easier to have
a general conversation! Right now I think I'll tackle the most active pages first (so,
English), followed by the ones I'm most familiar with (Italian, Spanish).
I spent last week working on the French wikia page for Super Challenge recommendations.
Now I'm ready to tackle Italian!
http://learnanylanguage.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Super_Challe nge_Recommendations
I went through old discussions and pulled out what I could find. If anyone has any
suggestions for the list, or wants to second any recommendations, let me know and I'll
add them. Or, of course, you can add them in yourself.
Check out the French page for what a fully stocked list looks like. Italian (and
others) are still a work in progress.
(I found a lot of HTLAL discussions for German and Spanish books also, so I'll work on
those at some point. Now that the framework is up it's easier for me to tackle one
language at a time).

Don't suppose you are interested in doing the English one? There are already a LOT of recommendations with links, podcasts, films, etc. But the list doesn't "look" as nice as the others, although it seems to have more content.
Personally I was concentrating on English (as a native speaker) to give recommendations and I was sort of hoping the French & Italians would chip in on their native Languages. In fact, if everyone should see clear to do 3-4 recommendations of their own personal favourites for their own native language, I think we could get some really good pages build very quickly.

At some point I'll do the English one! It was easier to add the graphics to the
languages without much content yet, so I've been putting that one off. But it's also one
of the most active, so I guess it makes sense to do it first ...
@ serpent - sometimes it renders oddly depending on the size of the larger window. I
click the "restore down / maximize" box (the little white box on the upper right of an
open window) seems to render the site the correct size.
This is one of the reasons it was hard to add a fifth column - I couldn't get it to
render properly. Of course, I'm a total beginner with wikitext, so there might be an
easy fix for that.

Fixed and edited the instructions. At the very least PLEASE don't set the table width to 800px. The available width is just 700px but even that is too much. Best don't set a width at all, for the table and for Comments. This way it will stretch automatically depending on the window size.

I reset the French column width to 700px, and that seemed to do the trick. Thanks.
Thumbnails seem to work well at 150px.
For the English page, I'm thinking about these categories, based upon what's in there
already and what I see in other threads. I've been trying to adjust the categories for
each language (eg: French and Japanese have great graphic novel traditions, German not
so much).
English categories (proposed):
Modern Lit
Sci Fi and Fantasy
Graphic Novels
Classical Lit
Young Adults
Children's Books
Films
TV
Podcasts and Audio

Yes but please don't use the "thumbnail template" for pictures, with the uploader, date and border. And you can't set column width to 150px and pic size to exactly 150.

Moving this over from the other thread ...

For those doing a Spanish challenge, check out
Esta Noche Libros, a whole web page
full of people talking about books in Spanish! So you can clock up some movie hours
while working out what you are going to read next! (You will need to be able to
understand Argentine Spanish well though..)
Incidentally, what are people reading / watching for Spanish challenges? I have
recently finished Espia de Dios by Juan Gomez-Jurado, and am now on Contrato con Dios
by the same author. |

(I had to remove some of the links thanks to my stupid computer)
I like the idea of having resource links on the wiki. I see a lot of them on here, and
it would be great to have them in one place! I'll add this to the Spanish page, and
keep my eye open for others.

I also updated the format on the English page. I'll work on the graphics over the next
week. It's pau hana already!
