Seems good!
Have fun with languages, dont think of improving English as a chore, or as something you
HAVE to do. It can be fun. Since you enjoy languages, I thought I'd just point you in
this direction. View improving English and French as relaxing activities :)

Gemuse, I think you are mostly correct, but remember what you said about how learning German improved your English:

Linguaholic, you can take or leave my advice, but I think this might help. Use Duolingo for your language study, and study whatever you want. French, German, Spanish, do whatever is fun. First of all, you will be improving your English through the lessons, and you will satisfy your wanderlust. You won't get to a high level in any of them right now, but that's okay. Make your current goal to have fun with languages, rather than to master any of them. I think this will be less stressful for you. And if any of those languages really grab you, then start using your other textbooks. Again, using an English-based textbook to learn another language will improve your English.

^^ I agree.
My posts have been biased by my language learning temperament. Learning a new language
is not fun for me. The language learning process is just something I feel I have to
endure to get the end result. I was wrongly ascribing the same temperament to
Linguaholic. My bad.

Thanks Jeffers. Reading coursebooks like Assimil and Hugo may not help me much with my English. I prefer to use the following to do so:
Use Norman Lewis' Word Power Made Easy for vocabulary. It is a great book to do so and it includes pronunciation and etymology. It is very friendly for the learner.
Complete my reading list from Goodreads.Victorian literature is beneficial for me.
I will opt for a creative writing course soon.

Improving vocab is always good, but its only a small part of improving English. You
already have a decent vocab, it is not what is holding you back. Iverson's advice in
the other thread is of relevance here. One thing I am trying to do is to pay more
attention to when I write in forums, and to treat each post as a formal piece of
writing which needs to be reviewed.

You are so very true. If it is possible, can you post the link thread with Iversen's
advice on the other forum?

It is two threads down titled "Advanced English: How to progress?" in this forum.
You have responded in it, so you have read Iverson's post :)
