Not sure exactly what constitutes passive learning, but (repeating the advice I gave a Norwegian learner, mutatis mutandis), for a bit of variety, you might try some internet radio: http://www.listenlive.eu/denmark.html I went to the DR Nyheder link, and poked around a bit, and came across: http://www.dr.dk/podcast If you poke around long enough, you should come to some direct mp3 links (i.e. you don't need itunes or anything fancy) and can either download or listen direct. Might be too advanced, but if you just want to have some contemporary Danish just kind of wash over you for a bit ... and of course, if it's about current events there are bound to be words you recognise. Edit: The search function reveals a more generalised list of pointers to podcasts: http://www.dr.dk/search/forside.htm?output=xml_no_dtd&client =default_frontend&oe=UTF- 8&ie=UTF-8&q=podcast&searchpath=%2F That's a link to an actual search. If it stops working, then just going to the top page, looking for the search box, and searching on "podcast" should work. Jeg har brug for al den hjælp, som jeg kan få! Lately I've been breezing through the Beginner's Danish that I have mostly because it's impossible to do the written lessons when all you have is the kindle edition. I feel like my reading skills are progressing out of proportion to my other skills since I barely even know the complex phonology of this language. Maybe I should start to keep a notebook with all of the writing portions of the book from now on since the grammar is starting to get a bit more complicated than I can remember just by rereading past reading exercises. Today I redid the first two lessons in Beginner's Danish, this time actually physically doing the activities in a
workbook which I found was actually extremely useful in solidifying what I knew, as much as I am usually against rote question answering in my language learning. I also started using Memrise for Danish after learning about it on this amazing forum. Not only is the program amazing for vocabulary retention (akin to Anki) but it also includes listening in most of the Danish word lists which I I'm beginning to learn is key since spoken Danish still eludes me although I'm making way with written Danish. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

Unfortunately, I've been extremely lazy lately. I haven't done much save for listening to podcasts and skimming
Danish news articles (dr.dk is a great website). I also switched my iPhone language/text to Danish and I'm surprisingly getting a decent amount of common words in Danish that way. P.S. Hi Kartof,
Always great to hear news/progress about another learner of Danish! And even though we are following quite different courses, I can relate to several things you said, such as the grammar getting more tricky as you progress. I've got a whole list of things (mostly in my head) that I know I have to come back to while I concentrate in the meantime on vocabulary acquisition. I haven't really started yet, but I plan to write out a lot of the TYSCD dialogues, especially where the grammar/vocabulary are a bit tricky, sort of Scriptorium fashion I suppose. I'm impressed that you're happy with your pronunciation of "d", because I confess myself to be still totally flummoxed by it! But I've decided to stop worrying about it, and hope it comes with more familiarity and listening. I'm itching to get to Denmark at some point - last time I was there I hadn't specifically studied any Danish, and was depending on my less than adequate study of Norwegian to get by - but I don't think I can make it happen for a while.
