Tarvos, you may be right, but there are no English-speaking people where I live. I recently dropped out of college, so I don't have the opportunity to speak with the English student that was in our class anymore.
Moreover, he quickly started avoiding me because I made him lazy. He was too comfortable speaking with me to bother practicing his French, but felt weird speaking in French to me. We ended up speaking French anyway, which means that at that point I had lost my sole "conversation partner".
I paid an American student a while ago (for conversation classes, mainly) and it went pretty well but it wasn't that useful for the price, so I stopped.
