I'm definitely going to follow your log with interest as we both seem to have similar goals (B2->C1) with German.
Alles Gute!

I finished my winter exams yesterday, and now I'm ready for a week of language study,
some C++ and writing placement applications, and hopefully I'll get invited to at least
one interview.
Hopefully I'll get around to doing the Team Spaß' January challenge tomorrow -- I still
have to figure out which song to translate. Perhaps "Auf Kurs" by Oomph.

So here's my attempt at translating the lyrics of Auf Kurs by Oomph!
The hardest part of it was finding suitable English expressions, except maybe the last
chorus where there was an expression that didn't make much sense in German either.
-------------------------
Nur weil ich langsam erfrier
Only because I'm slowly freezing to ice
Find ich zu dir
...do I seek you
I know exactly where no one ever was,
Bin ich dir nah
...I'm close to you.
---
Um mich nur strahlendes Weiß
Around me, all is blindingly white
Hier tief im ewigen Eis
Here, deeply in eternal ice
Hab ich den Kompass verlorn
...have I lost my compass
Ich bin auf Kurs
Im on my way [en route / on course]
Zurück zu dir
...back to you
Der Sturm treibt mich über die See
The storm drives me over the sea,
Hinfort von hier
...away from here
Ich such deine Spuren im Schnee
I follow your traces in the snow,
----
Nur wo die Engel erfriern
...but only where the angels freeze to ice
Kann ich dich spürn
I can sense where you are
First when my blood freeze in my veins
Werd ich berührt
am I moved [emotionally]
Ich hab die Hölle durchquert
I've been through hell
Von deiner Kälte gezehrt
been worn by your coldness,
Und alle Hoffnung verlorn
and lost all hope.
(Chorus)
Verlier mich denn ich bin auf Kurs
Rid you of me (???) 'cause I'm on my way
(Maybe "shake me off" or something, I guess...)
Zurück
back
Zu dir
to you
(More chorus...)

So I decided to ditch Anki again. The process of reviewing and adding a new batch of
cards took up an entire hour each day, and spending that hour reading would give me a
lot more exposure to the language.
In addition, I got an invitation to a job interview today! :D So I guess I'll have to
spend some time preparing for that as well. The interview's next Wednesday, and the
place isn't really that far away.
- Incoming loose translation -
hier.

So, January is nearing its end. I didn't make any aims for January, but here is a short
summary of what I've done:
JAPANESE
- Read approx. 500 pages of the 4th Harry Potter book
- Did way too little listening - I need to find a few TV shows to watch
GERMAN
- I finished the following books: Mordgesindel, Moe Teratos; Die Erfindung des
Abschieds, Friedrich Ani
- Currently reading Böser Wolf (Nele Neuhaus)
- Did a lot of listening practice: watched some Dokus, V-Logs and "Let's play" videos
My aims for february:
- (Japanese) Get more listening practice
- (Japanese) Read for at least an hour a day.
I'm planning to prioritise Japanese for the first few weeks of the second semester,
starting this Monday. The reason for this is that I really want to finish that HP book
during February - it's been 40-ish days already, and I really want to finish it so that
I can move on to other books. Giving it up is not an option after about 650 pages :p

February summmary:
GERMAN
- Finished "Böser Wolf" and about two-thirds of "Vaterland" (Translation of
"Fatherland")
- About 40-50 hours of listening practice - I don't really keep track
JAPANESE
- Finished
- Virtually no listening practice -- I still haven't found anything to watch :p
This month I can't really do much, because I really need to catch up with lectures --
(possibly) norovirus infection, a light flu-like something, job interviews, and an eye
infection that just didn't settle, and also made my eyes very sensitive to light, which
means that I couldn't go to lectures or do anything productive on my computer (even
with the brightness turned all the way down)...
I'm usually never ill though, February's just been a really bad exception to the rule.
:D
