Hi Amerykanka. I am curious, which dialect of Ancient Greek are you focusing on?

@Mooby, yes, I've had to put Italian on hold. But I'm still going to Rome in the spring, so it is only a temporary
arrangement.
@Sir Lunch-a-lot, I'm focusing on Attic. How about you?

I am working on Koine Greek (... Basement Greek, anyone? :D). Though, I have been toying
with the idea of possibly delving into Attic at some undetermined point in the future to
broaden the range of what I can read. But, since I got my start in Koine (and will have
the most practical use for Koine), I figure it makes the most sense to stick with that
for the time being.

I'd like to read the works of Ancient Greece in the original and Attic seems to be the best starting point - later
on I can transition into Homeric Greek, etc. For the time being, Attic will allow me to familiarize myself with
Aeschylus, Sophocles, Plato, and Aristotle, among others. I also want to read the New Testament and early
Christian writers, but from what I can tell I'll been able to understand most of what I read in Koine just as a
result of my knowledge of Attic. I've only been studying Greek seriously for about 9 months, but so far it's
been a lot of fun!

Well, I am not doing a very good job of keeping up with this log. I promise that it is NOT because I am not studying languages. In fact, it is the opposite - I am so busy with languages (and other studies of course) that I simply don't have time to post here. When it comes down to it, I would rather master irregular Greek verbs than write about doing so.
So, anyway, I just wanted to pop in to say that my studies are progressing well, in spite of my long absence. Over Christmas break I will probably give some sort of summary of the year.
