Hindi - I think it's interesting. To be honest that's a pretty crap reason.

Looking at it, the only one I'd be able to practice semi-regularly is Polish, but
that's only semi-regularly as I only visit the place Polish is spoken a lot once every
other week.

It is not a crap reason at all! I would love to find time to study Hindi, I visited India once and it is a fascinating country with an immensely rich culture.

The practice element can be an argument, but as others point out, you really need to find out which language you would want to learn so much that you would stay the course even in moments of struggle and demotivation. So I support the idea of spending a few weeks or a couple of months testing out some or all of the languages, and then make up your mind.

Thank-you so much for the input! I've decide to dedicate a week to each one to see which
one I prefer. The only thing is I'm pretty nervous about choosing a complex language, like
Polish or Russian - so far I've only tackled languages I've found relatively easy (not
that any language is easy, of course). How much more difficult is it learning a more
complex language further away from your native tonuge (for lack of a better way to put
it!)?

In my experience your motivation is more important. I found Finnish much easier than German, for example.

I have something similar with Hindi - I really love the writing system, and I used to have plans to learn it. But I've realized I just don't have enough interest in the language and culture, and as a woman I'm actually anxious about some aspects of it.
