I'd pick Swiss-German over Bavarian, but, of course, that shouldn't stop you from dealing with the dialect you like :)

No problem, there's some Swiss German courses on Memrise as well! I was going to do those after I finished the Bavarian ones :)

BTW, in case you didn't know English is one of the official language of Malta having replaced Italian a long while ago. This makes me worry, because I wonder if Maltese language will die out there since English is, for right now, the lingua franca.

It's actually considered safe (not even slightly endangered) by UNESCO. The country is really small, but the key factor is that the chain isn't broken, the language is passed on from one generation to the next, and it's used for education. I visited Malta last year (amazing ♥) and was surprised just how much Maltese I heard.

Good luck with it!!!

Thank you Serpent! It really does make me glad to find out that these less-spoken but amazing languages aren't dying out or being replaced.

@ Everyone: I've started learning days of the week in Maltese and it's quite interesting how they're named. The Maltese start the week on Sunday and ends it on Saturday:

Sunday = il-Ħadd
Monday = it-Tnjen
Tuesday = it-Tlieta
Wednesday = l-Erbgħa
Thurdsay = il-Ħamis
Friday = il-Ġimgħa
Saturday = is-Sibt

What's interesting about the days of the week is that they coincide for the most part with the numbers (with the possible exception of Sunday since I don't immediately see "Ħadd" from "Wiegħed". So one could think of Monday as "Day Two", Tuesday as "Day Three", etc. That's just the idea mind you, the word for day (il-Jum) is not present in the names.

Ciao!

Maltese: I've made four vocab lists so far in Anki from one of my Maltese books and I've done my second day of review with it. I'll be re-listening to the chapter to further understand how to pronounce the words. Yesterday I watered some of my plants on Memrise, and I've retained nouns fairly well but verbs and verb conjugations not so much :(

German: Haven't done too much with German lately. Mainly just keeping my plants watered on Memrise and I've also downloaded a list on Anki with vocab from Lower Intermediate to Advanced that'll work on later in the day (it's 9:32 a.m. here, as of this writing). I've found an international radio app that doesn't seem to take up much limited space on my phone or eats up my battery too badly. I plan on definitely getting in more "on-the-go" listening practice with both German and Maltese.
