French, Italian, Turkish or Swedish? | ||

People keep telling swedish is easy for Germanic language speakers; I wonder how easy would it be for me; i have C1 in English and A2-B1 in German.
By the way, in case you try learning Turkish; sadly as a native Turkish speaker who tried to learn modern greek. ( I studied for 2 weeks ) there are almost no similarities. Studying greek was harder for me then learning Chinese characters ( i memorized 70 of them last year and i can recognize some of them still, yet i don't remember how to say "hello" in greek ) 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

I didn't realise our language was that hard! O.O Well, I guess it would help that greek tv has a lot of turkish series lately and im used to the sound of the language(I dont really like them, because the plot is always some insignificant love, but they're great help) I don't think I'll exclude turkish completely, but you're right, maybe it's far too difficult and different for now :P Thanks for the help! I wish you continue your greek studies! As a native speaker, I can tell you that there are some turkish words in our vocab, but their definitely not that widely used and not the first thing one would learn. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

good luck with your studies. Funny how lately we all want to learn turkish, he he. The power of TV, I call it. It is a beautiful language, I agree. French and Italian are so similar, you wouldn't believe. There are many discussions, if one should learn similar languages together, or not. However I'd say go for it. As for not liking french, give it one more chance. Sometimes it's not the language but all the hype that puts us off. As for italin, Dio mio, I adore it. My own goal is to learn more or less the same languages are you, mostly european, with the addition of some of our neighbouring ones. I also have an inclination towards classical studies and totaly drool over latin. However I chose to focus on living languages for now. And how odd is it to speak to you in English? Haha, yeah, it is very weird talking to you in English. I guess it's better though, for other people to understand too. Yeah, a lot of people are interested in turkish now. Personally I think it is a good idea, not because of the tv series, but because our two nations always had conflicts and problems with each other, and people speaking turkish - in order to help solve some diplomatic problems- are needed. But anyway, that's just for bussiness.
