I keep flitting around languages! Recently I decided to pick up Swedish. I think just

I'm in the very beginning stages of learning Swedish. So far I've found the pronunciation
and spelling to be the hardest part - usually those are the easiest for me! It's been helpful listening to podcasts (namely SwedishPod101), then doing some theory lessons on Babbel.com. The podcasts give me a better feel for the sound of Swedish, then the theory reinforces the spelling, grammar, and vocabulary. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

Hi Zomxilla! I used to flit around much more than I used to. Now I have very clear goals
of where I want to go so I flit less. Not that there's anything wrong with it. :) I've also recently had a really big lapse, partially due to shifting and re-shifting priorities and partially due to depression. I have a friend who is learning Swedish(albeit not at the moment due to lack of time) for ancestry reasons and because she'd like to visit. I know she found a couple apps on her phone for it(I forget if she has android or apple) that she seemed happy with. Snuck in some more Svenska this afternoon. Started on the FSI course - have to say it
really has helped understanding the pronunciation. Reviewed the vowels, first off. There are a lot of vowel sounds in Swedish! I also tried out the voice recognition with the Babbel course. It was okay. Sometimes I felt it wasn't picking up my sentence even though I thought I pronounced it right...ah well. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

Started a different Memrise course,
"Basic Swedish", as the other course was simply too vague. It jammed all the translations for the basic words too close together, so I would often get words wrong for "to" or "the" because there are many possible translations. This other one is a lot better! Also completed the "Kommer du från Sverige?" Babbel review. I'll likely be going back over those two lessons - I'm hesitant on some of the vocab. Listened to the audio tape of handy phrases from the Swedish FSI course. I think I'll make them into flashcards or something because they are quite useful. Another small amount of revision today! Learning more about en- and ett- Swedish words.
